5/6/2026 – The Councilor for Culture of the Fuengirola City Council, Rodrigo Romero, has presented the programming of the Library Network for the month of June, a complete cultural agenda that includes a dozen activities aimed at audiences of all ages, as well as the closing of the municipal reading clubs course. During the presentation, Romero highlighted the City Council’s commitment to promoting reading, critical thinking and access to culture through a diverse program that includes book presentations, meetings with authors, copy signings, children’s activities and informative cycles.
Among the most notable names who will visit the municipal libraries this month is the writer Raquel González, author of Being from Outside, who will participate on June 10 at the Lope de Vega Library within the Nuevas Voces cycle. Likewise, the councilor has highlighted the presence of Chantal Maillard, a renowned poet and philosopher based in Malaga, awarded the National Poetry Prize, the Critics’ Prize, the Andalusian Critics’ Prize and the Leteo Prize for a literary career of enormous relevance.

“In addition to being a poet, she is an extraordinary thinker and author of a deeply reflective work, but very close to the reader. It is an exceptional opportunity to be able to listen to her, since she makes very few public interventions,” said Romero, encouraging literature fans to attend the meeting that will take place on June 17 at the Miguel de Cervantes Library.
The programming began on June 3 with the presentation of the book Aako, the Warrior Queen, by Angie González, at the Lope de Vega Library. During the coming weeks, municipal libraries will continue to host meetings with prominent authors such as Noemí Rodríguez, who will present Mama, Papa, el amor no duele on June 9; Raquel González, on the 10th; Mario Amorós, 12; Lola Valle, 15; Chantal Maillard, 17; Jackeline de Barros and Vicente Luis Mora, 19; and Ezao, on June 26.
Closing of the reading clubs
One of the most special moments of the month will be the closing of the municipal reading clubs course, which will be held on June 19 at the Miguel de Cervantes Library.
The day will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the delivery of diplomas to the participants of the children’s reading clubs of the three municipal libraries. Next, at 5:15 p.m., there will be a storytelling session led by Jackeline de Barros aimed at family audiences.
The program will culminate at 7:00 p.m. with a literary meeting starring the writer and professor at the University of Malaga, Vicente Luis Mora, in which members of the adult reading clubs and regular attendees of the Fuengirola entre Letras cycle will participate.
“Vicente Luis Mora is specialized in energizing mass literary meetings. On this occasion, participants will comment on the work Nada, by Carmen Laforet, a fundamental novel of Spanish literature that also has film and graphic adaptations, which will further enrich the debate,” explained the councilor.
Finally, Rodrigo Romero recalled that all activities have limited capacity and require prior registration. “We want to offer close, participatory and quality cultural experiences. We invite both residents and visitors to join this programming, which once again positions Fuengirola as one of the cultural references of the Costa del Sol,” he noted.
Registration for the different activities can be formalized through the municipal public libraries website.
