Ana Mula: “The growth and achievements of Fuengirola in 2025 are the result of the joint effort of all the residents and their City Council”
The employment, business opening and hotel occupancy data for the past twelve months show the great moment that the city is experiencing. The construction of 39 Municipal Support Housing or the tender for the project and construction of the new Santa Fe Stadium and its underground parking are some of the milestones of last year
12/1/2026 – “The growth and achievements of Fuengirola in 2025 are the result of the joint effort of all the residents and its City Council.” This is the assessment with which the mayor of Fuengirola, Ana Mula, has begun the assessment of the annual activity of the municipal government team she leads. A period in which the main economic indicators have once again revealed the good times that the city is experiencing, as the councilor has outlined. A success that, as it did in the last State Plenary Session of the City, a month ago, has been linked to the involvement of the local residents in its development.
“In the past twelve months, truly strategic projects for the present and future of Fuengirola have come to light. The economic parameters that show the good health of our city have improved even more. And the image that we project to the outside is, even if possible, more recognized and positive. And all of this, I insist, thanks to your support, trust and effort. To a hard-working, honest and hard-working people like you Fuengirola residents, my dear neighbors,” he stated.

In this regard, he has assured that during the past year the executive he directs has initiated decisive initiatives for the future of the city, such as the two Municipal Support Housing developments with 39 apartments for families and young people in the town; the New Mercacentro, whose works continue and will end in 2026; the Youth Center; the Gloria Fuertes Library; or the implementation of LED technology in 100% of the municipal lighting network.
At the same time, Mula has referred to those facilities that do not depend on municipal action, but on other administrations. As a result of them, he has positively valued the progress in health matters, with the opening and commissioning of the Los Pacos Health Center and the expansion of the Los Boliches Health Center or the works on the new Picasso School.
In this sense, the councilor has stated that she will continue to “insist without ceasing so that all administrations at the same time offer the benefits and services that this city deserves” and has detailed some of them, such as the 24-hour Emergency Room, the Santa Amalia Medical Specialties Center or the bus station -by the Government of Andalusia-, as well as the extension of the commuter train to the west of the province, a new National Police Station or a Regeneration Plan of the Fuengirola coast –in the case of the State-.
Fuengirola management model
At the municipal level, the management has resulted in the processing of more than a hundred major contract files and more than 350 minor contracts promoted by the institution; the more than 9,300 services provided in the different Social Work Units for information, guidance, advice and processing of nearly 2,500 financial benefits; the management of more than 350 job offers in the Municipal Employment Exchange and the organization of different training actions in which more than 600 Fuengirola residents have participated.
In the same way, the highest municipal leader has made reference to the different elements that favor the projection of Fuengirola at a national and international level as a tourist destination. In this case, it has focused on Marenostrum Fuengirola, which was attended by more than 200,000 spectators and an economic return valued at 65 million euros; the Fuengirola-Higuerón Training Center, which has become the world epicenter for the physical preparation of NBA players or the German national team – which was proclaimed European champion last summer; but also the highest recognition that, once again, the city has received in terms of Beaches on 100% of its coastline for its quality and excellence.
All of this, without forgetting the services, which in Mula’s opinion, “are essential” for the functioning of the municipality. Such as security, cleanliness, urban ecology or the beautification of neighborhoods. Services that have been reinforced with greater investment, new contracts and also resorting to innovation and new technology.
Likewise, the neighborhood councils have once again channeled, in a direct and personalized manner, the demands of the residents of each area of the city. In fact, as she recalled, the councilor has held regular meetings with her neighbors and has visited each area regularly in the company of the councilors assigned to each of the eleven neighborhoods of the town.
Finally, the mayor referred to the different indicators that, in her opinion, are confirming Fuengirola as a “thriving and dynamic” city from an economic point of view.
Specifically, the high levels of hotel occupancy, of which Fuengirola has been the leader for practically the entire year, according to AEHCOS; the drop in unemployment of 9.67%, achieving the best figures in the last seventeen years; as well as the maintenance of the high numbers of opening license applications already registered in 2024, as well as major work permits, which show the investment and entrepreneurial interest that exists in the city.
Finally, the mayor has assured that both she and the team she leads are “prepared” for Fuengirola to continue moving forward and has involved her residents in this task.
“Let us be proud of the extraordinary work we do together. We are a great people, with enormous aspirations, with ambition to be better, sensitive to others, welcoming to those who choose us to live among us. We are a reference,” concluded Ana Mula.
