9/1/2026 – The Manuel Delgado Perea House of Culture in Fuengirola will host next Friday, January 16, starting at 8:00 p.m., a concert called ‘Memories of Andalusia’ by the string quintet with piano and double bass Astrea Quintet. This was announced today by the Councilor for Culture, Rodrigo Romero, who explained that attendees will be able to enjoy a musical journey through the richness of Andalusian sound through the eyes of some of the greatest Spanish composers.
The mayor has detailed that tickets have a price of 5 euros and are now available on the website https://entradas.fuengirola.es or at the information point of the Miramar Shopping Center, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., as well as at the House of Culture itself before the start of the function.
The program brings together emblematic works of Spanish nationalism—by masters such as Joaquín Turina, Manuel de Falla, Enrique Granados or Isaac Albéniz—along with other pieces of enormous artistic value that are rarely heard on stage.
This concert invites the public to explore the sounds of Andalusia according to the perception of different Spanish composers and discover its essence from different creative perspectives, performed by a formation as original as it is unusual: a string quintet with piano and double bass.
Biography
Astrea Quintet is made up of Laura Romero (violin), Laura Martínez (viola), Juan Antonio Carrillo (cello), Amador del Pozo (double bass) and Tania Moya (piano).
The project begins to be forged in Malaga in mid-2021 with the main objective of rediscovering music for string quintet with piano. Likewise, it seeks to perform newly created original music, in addition to making its own adaptations of works that fit the quintet concept.
This chamber formation offers a wide range of sound in the strings, ranging from the high notes of the violin to the lowest notes of the double bass, complementing this mass with the timbral richness and color provided by the piano.
Astrea Quintet is one of the few stable formations of this type in Europe and among its objectives is to walk along little-explored paths of music and rescue an original repertoire that is little known and performed, offering a lively interpretation, of a personal character and with a deep sound.
The quintet has participated in the First Edition of the City of Estepona Classical Music Festival and in the concert series “Noche de Opera y Zarzuela” organized by the Provincial Council of Málaga, performing concerts at the Royal Collegiate Church of Santa María de Antequera, the Antonio Gala House Museum in Alhaurín el Grande and the La Concepción Historical Botanical Garden in Málaga, among others.
In addition, in the 2023/2024 season he performed his own “Europe to Discover” cycle at the Fuengirola House of Culture, which consisted of 6 concerts and was very well received by the public.
In 2024 they obtain the Master’s Degree in the specialty of Chamber Music at the Conservatori Liceu of Barcelona.
They have been awarded the First Prize Tizziano Rossetti International Music Competition in Lugano, and the Gerónimo Giménez Prize in the First Edition of Ándalmus, a competition for Young Musical Promises of Andalusia.
