12/23/2025 – The Councilor for Commerce of the Fuengirola City Council, Francisco Javier García Lara, today took stock of the activity carried out by his area throughout the year 2025, an exercise marked by the promotion of local commerce, the promotion of entrepreneurship and the implementation of numerous actions to promote, energize and modernize the commercial and hospitality fabric of the city.
García Lara has indicated that the main objective of the Commerce Area has been, once again, to address the real needs of local commerce, listen to their demands and strengthen the sector through direct and permanent contact. In this sense, he has highlighted the fundamental role of the Commerce and Hospitality Roundtable, which continues to be a key tool for agreeing on initiatives and designing actions adapted to the reality of the municipality.
During 2025, an extensive calendar of commercial revitalization and promotion campaigns has been developed, among which consolidated initiatives such as ‘Live Fuengirola with Love’, held in February, and the Fuengirola Outlet and Promotion campaign, which took place in November, stand out. Likewise, different editions of the ‘Your purchases in Fuengirola have a prize’ campaign have been carried out, both in spring and at Christmas, with the aim of encouraging local consumption and building customer loyalty in local businesses.
One of the most notable events of the year has been the Noche Viva Fuengirola 2025, which once again transformed the streets of the municipality into a large open-air commercial showcase. In this edition, which was held on August 9, more than a hundred establishments from the main commercial areas participated and thousands of people gathered. During the day, special openings, exclusive promotions, discounts, live musical performances, street entertainment, children’s activities, traveling shows and cultural proposals were held, generating a dynamic environment that favored the visibility of local commerce and the increase in economic activity.
The commercial dynamization has reached its maximum expression during the Christmas campaign. The Commerce Area has promoted an extensive program of activities for Christmas 2025, among which the Neighborhood Commerce Fair, the Christmas Market in the Plaza de la Constitución, the Route of the Elves, parades with Christmas entertainment, family gymkhanas, children’s shows, stilt walk parades and musical entertainment stand out.
In terms of modernization, the councilor has highlighted the consolidation of the municipal APP “Fuengirola Más Viva” as a key tool to bring commerce closer to citizens. Through this application, promotional campaigns have been developed linked to specific dates such as Valentine’s Day, spring, summer and Christmas, as well as raffles, promotions, dissemination of offers and discounts, updated information on commercial events and loyalty actions to reward consumption in participating establishments.
On the other hand, García Lara has highlighted the positive entrepreneurship data in the city. In 2024, 617 commercial openings were registered, while so far in 2025, 628 new openings have already been recorded. “Figures that reflect the good times that Fuengirola is going through and its consolidation as an attractive municipality for investment, job creation and economic activity,” he indicated.
Finally, the mayor addressed merchants and entrepreneurs directly to remind them that the Commerce Area is at their disposal to listen, guide and accompany those who wish to start or develop their activity in the city. He has also encouraged active participation in the Commerce and Hospitality Roundtable and to convey any suggestion or need via email. commerce@fuengirola.org.
“The City Council’s commitment is to continue working with closeness, enthusiasm and dedication so that local commerce and entrepreneurship continue to be one of the great economic and social drivers of Fuengirola,” he concluded.
