The Fuengirola City Council reinforces the cleaning service during Holy Week with a special device of 66 workers
For several weeks now, action has been taking place around the parishes and the streets through which the processional parades will take place, so that everything is in perfect condition.
3/27/2026 – Fuengirola City Council has reinforced the cleaning service on the occasion of Holy Week through a special device made up of 66 workers. This was announced today by the councilor of the area, Carmen Díaz, who highlighted that for several weeks action has been taking place around the parishes and in the streets through which the processional parades will take place, with the aim of ensuring that everything is in perfect condition.
“Preparing a city like Fuengirola for Holy Week or for any event requires intense and continuous work. It is not about one-off actions, but about constant work. Even so, we want the processional routes to look in the best conditions, which is why we have been carrying out disk cleaning work for weeks in all the streets where the processions will pass. In addition, the clearing of sidewalks and roads is being carried out throughout the city, favored by the recent rains and the growth of vegetation,” Díaz explained.
In relation to the special device, the councilor has indicated that “a total of 66 workers will keep watch during the days of the processions – Palm Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday and Good Friday – so that the routes are kept in perfect condition.”
The operation includes the presence of workers equipped with cleaning carts around the processional routes, in charge of continuously sweeping the areas. Likewise, trucks will be deployed that will previously act on the ecological islands, carrying out cleaning tasks and removing furniture and belongings deposited improperly.
In addition, the device includes sweeping machines that will accompany the processions, both at the head and in the tail, so that, once the processions are over, the streets are left in optimal conditions.
On the other hand, the municipal Cleaning Manager has appealed to citizen collaboration, emphasizing that “taking care of Fuengirola is everyone’s task. No matter how much effort is made by the City Council, it is essential that both residents and visitors contribute to keeping the city clean.”
To conclude, Díaz has encouraged residents and visitors to enjoy Holy Week and has requested their involvement to facilitate the work of cleaning workers, so that the city remains in the best conditions for as long as possible.
