The Fuengirola City Council launches the Rescue and First Aid device on beaches on the occasion of Holy Week

The service will begin this Saturday, March 28 and will continue uninterruptedly until Sunday, April 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Subsequently, it will continue to be active at the same time during weekends and holidays, until next May 31

3/27/2026 – The Councilor for Beaches of the Fuengirola City Council, José Sánchez, presented this morning the special health care, rescue and lifeguard device that will be operational on the municipality’s coastline on the occasion of Holy Week. The service will begin on Saturday, March 28 and will continue uninterruptedly until Sunday, April 5, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. From that date on, it will remain active during weekends and holidays until May 31.

“We are in the prelude to Holy Week and, as usual, the City Council is working to ensure that our beaches are in the best possible condition at a time when a significant number of visitors are concentrated, in addition to the residents themselves who take advantage of these days to enjoy the coastline,” said Sánchez.

In this sense, the mayor has highlighted the effort made in recent months after the storms that have affected the coast: “Operational Services and the beach maintenance concessionaire company have been working intensely to recover the affected areas and guarantee that the beaches are in optimal conditions.”

In relation to the Rescue and First Aid Service, the mayor has detailed that, facing Holy Week, the device will be made up of a total of 43 professionals, including a service coordinator, a communications operator and a health team made up of a doctor, a nurse and two health emergency technicians. The operation is completed with boat skippers, traveling lifeguards, personnel in watchtowers, rescue modules and specialists in the assisted bathing service.

As for the material resources, the device will have 10 surveillance towers, 4 first-aid modules, a coordination module and 4 adapted platforms for assisted bathing, “which will have qualified personnel to serve users who require this service.” Likewise, those interested in using the assisted bathroom can make a prior reservation by calling 691 102 985.

The operation is completed with an advanced life support ambulance, a medically equipped buggy, a jet ski and a boat, which will strengthen the response capacity in the event of any incident along the entire coastline.

Sánchez also recalled that Fuengirola’s rescue and first aid service was recognized last year with a special mention by the Environmental and Consumer Education Association (ADEAC), which placed it among the best in the country.

On the other hand, the Councilor for Beaches recalled that, with the beginning of the bathing season at Easter, pet access to the beaches is prohibited, except in the area enabled as a dog beach, located on the coastal stretch adjacent to the municipality of Mijas.

Looking ahead to the high season, which will begin on June 1, the service hours will be extended until 8:00 p.m., while the number of personnel will be increased to 55 lifeguards and the aquatic facilities will be reinforced, with a total of three jet skis.

To conclude, Sánchez has reported the temporary closure of a small stretch of beach in the Castillo area, affected by the latest storms, where the Coastal Demarcation is working to recover it and reopen it to swimming in the shortest possible time.
