6/22/2026 – Fuengirola City Council will commemorate International LGTBIQ+ Pride Day with the celebration of an institutional event that will include the reading of a manifesto and a round table under the motto ‘Diversity that transforms: LGTBI voices and experiences’. This was announced today by the Councilor for Families, Equality and Social Welfare, Cristina Bornao, who has indicated that the event will take place this coming Thursday, June 27, at 12:30 p.m. in the Royal Hall of the City Council.

“Every June 28, the birth of the movement for the rights of lesbian, gay, transsexual, bisexual and intersex people, better known as LGTBIQ+ Pride Day, is commemorated around the world,” said Bornao, indicating that “Fuengirola City Council, aware of this reality, has organized to commemorate this day, in addition to reading the manifesto, a round table that will bring together representatives of the Andalusian Diversity Federation of different generations to share their experiences and reflect on the evolution of society in terms of diversity, equality and rights. We are also going to address the construction of safe spaces in educational centers, how to prevent and stop LGTBI bullying, in addition to publicizing the resources available to combat discrimination in our municipality.”

The implementation of these initiatives from the Equality Area has contributed to the recognition of the city as a space free of LGBTIphobia, “a distinction that has been endorsed by the granting of an accreditation plaque in recognition of the commitment and work carried out in favor of equality and diversity,” indicated the mayor.

In the Fuengirola City Council, you will find “always an ally committed to the eradication of any form of discrimination and the defense of a fairer, diverse and inclusive society, promoting public policies based on equality, inclusion and respect for diversity,” Bornao concluded.
