The Fuengirola City Council promotes inclusive sport with a pilot paddle project adapted for deaf people
A pioneering initiative, based on visual methodology and universal accessibility, which will feature the participation of deaf players from Germany, Italy and the province of Malaga
4/14/2026 – Fuengirola City Council, through the Department of Sports, will launch an innovative paddle tennis pilot project adapted to people with hearing disabilities, with the aim of continuing to advance in the promotion of an inclusive and accessible sport for all.
The Councilor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, together with the president of the European Paddle Association for the Deaf, Pilar Moreno, have presented this pioneering initiative, focused on teaching paddle tennis through adapted methodologies and visual communication systems.
The program will be taught by a deaf trainer residing in Fuengirola, specialized in accessible training, and will be carried out entirely through sign language – both national and international -, thus guaranteeing an environment fully adapted to the needs of the participants.
The activity will take place on the courts of the Elola Sports Complex and will feature the participation of deaf players from Germany, Italy and different parts of the province of Malaga, which reinforces its international dimension and places the city as a benchmark in the field of inclusive sports.
The main objective of this project is to analyze, perfect and apply accessible teaching models in sport, promoting values such as inclusion, equal opportunities and universal access to sports practice.
The Department of Sports highlights the relevance of this type of proposals, which contribute to eliminating barriers and building a sports model in which all people can participate on equal terms.
Fuengirola, a reference in sport for everyone
With initiatives like this, Fuengirola City Council continues to consolidate its commitment to an open, inclusive sport adapted to diversity, providing spaces, resources and programs that generate a positive social impact and reinforce cohesion in the municipality.
