The Fuengirola City Council sets May 31 as the deadline for the mandatory cleaning of plots, lots and land
The new regulations establish the obligation to keep the floors clean before the end of next month and eliminate procedures to act more quickly
04/09/2026.-Last January, Fuengirola City Council approved a modification to the Municipal Plot Cleaning and Conservation Ordinance (registered at the beginning of 2026), focusing on increasing prevention, planning and coherence in the maintenance of plots, “seeking a cleaner and more orderly city.” The rule has thus been modified in the chapter on cleaning lots to also add the maintenance and adaptation of plots and land.
The Councilors for Cleaning and Urban Planning, Carmen Díaz and Rocío Arriaga, respectively, have reported on this matter today, on a plot located on Las Viñas Street, where they have highlighted the importance of this measure to improve the image, health of the municipality and safeguard the integrity of the neighbors in the face of a possible risk of fires due to high temperatures.
Another novelty, which Díaz has advanced, is that the obligation has been introduced for land, plots and plots to be free of stubble, bushes and waste as of May 31. Likewise, the ordinance has been modified to speed up the procedures, so that it will no longer be necessary to make prior requirements: from now on, the land will be inspected directly and, in case of non-compliance, the corresponding sanctions will be applied.
As this is the first year of application of this modification, all owners have received an information letter with the news, in addition to launching dissemination campaigns through Fuengirola Television and social networks.
In this regard, Arriaga has indicated that “the objective is that we all know clearly what is expected from the maintenance of the lands, plots and plots and that the city looks in the best possible conditions throughout the year.” Likewise, he stressed that “with this update we take another step to facilitate compliance with the regulations and make them more effective for the benefit of all neighbors.”
Before concluding, Carmen Díaz insisted that with this initiative, “the City Council reinforces its commitment to cleanliness, safety and care of the urban environment, appealing to citizen collaboration to keep Fuengirola in optimal conditions.”
