The Fuengirola City Council renews the vertical garden of the Finland Avenue bridge, in Los Pacos

The restrictions imposed due to the drought two years ago forced the irrigation of green areas to be reduced and eliminated, losing a good part of their vegetation. It is an area of ​​more than 350 square meters that will contain more than 9,000 plants of fifteen different species.

04/09/2026.- The Fuengirola City Council is renovating the vertical garden located on the Finland Avenue bridge through which National Highway 340 used to travel, in Los Pacos. Mayor Ana Mula, along with the neighborhood councilor. Rosa Ana Bravo, and the Councilor for Urban Ecology, José Sánchez, have visited the repopulation work.

“This is an infrastructure that was built in 2021 and, as a consequence of the restrictive measures on irrigation that were imposed by the competent administrations due to the drought, between 2023 and 2024, it suffered high plant losses. Once the water situation was recovered, we have decided to act to bring it back to life,” explained the councilor.

In this way, the operators of the Ambitec company are working on the placement of the 9,100 new plants that will occupy this green infrastructure, which has an area of ​​363 square meters. Among the fifteen species that have been chosen to revitalize this green area are iresina, ribbons, asparagus ferns, petunias, tradescantias, pelargonium or begonias, among others.

This beautification action, which costs 48,000 euros, has been completed with the creation of decorative murals on the walls and pillars of the bridge. These paintings are works of the Fuengirola artist Alejandro Bermejo ‘Not Japi’.

“In this way, we once again give life and show off this space that is so important for the people of Fuengirola, especially for the residents of Los Pacos,” Ana Mula concluded.
