The Fuengirola City Council completes the Revegetation Plan with more than 200 new trees in 58 streets and public spaces
The initiative responds to the need to replace trees that had been lost due to the passage of time, inclement weather, drought, accidents or natural causes.
2/12/2026 – The Councilor for Urban Ecology of the Fuengirola City Council, José Sánchez, today reported the completion of the Plant Repopulation Plan, an initiative that has allowed the planting of 236 trees of eleven different species in 58 streets and public spaces in the city.
The project, which had a budget of 66,431.44 euros and an execution period of 50 days, responds to the need to replace trees that had been lost due to the passage of time, inclement weather, drought, accidents or natural causes. Furthermore, many specimens with health problems posed a risk to passers-by, which made their replacement essential.
“Fuengirola has always been characterized by its well-kept and green streets, thanks to the City Council’s determined commitment to maintaining green areas and planting trees where conditions allow. This plan guarantees the safety of pedestrians, improves the image of our city and contributes to the well-being of all residents,” Sánchez highlighted.
The replacement of trees is part of the municipal commitment to care for and beautify public spaces, with sustainable and responsible actions that reinforce the quality of life in the city. For the mayor, “these results are possible thanks to the Fuengirola Management Model, which combines efficiency in the administration of resources with the responsibility and commitment of citizens.”
The Plant Replanting Plan joins other actions to improve and maintain parks, gardens and green areas in the city, consolidating Fuengirola as a benchmark in sustainability and urban care.
