1/22/2026 – The Senior Citizens Area of the Fuengirola City Council invites the elderly to learn about the city’s historical heritage on January 30. This was announced by the councilor for the sector, Cristina Bornao, who explained that it is a cultural and sports event that will begin on Friday the 30th at 9:30 a.m. with a talk at the Los Boliches Mayor’s Office by archaeologist Ramón Hiraldo. The activity will continue with a walk to the Finca del Secretary archaeological site and later continue to the Torreblanca hot springs. Those interested in participating must register in advance at the Senior Citizens’ offices on Blanca Paloma Street, presenting their valid Fuengirola retiree card.
“It is an initiative that combines a hiking sports activity, comfortable for older people, and that offers the opportunity to learn a little more about the extensive historical heritage of our city,” explained Bornao, noting that “on this occasion we are going to visit the archaeological site of the Finca del Secretary and the Roman baths of Torreblanca with the help of Ramón Hiraldo, archaeologist and person responsible for many of the restoration, classification and extraction works of the vestiges of ancient civilizations found in our city.”
At the Finca del Secretary archaeological site there are the remains of an ancient Roman villa dating back to the 1st century AD. There you can admire the impressive mosaics and archaeological remains that offer a window into the region’s Roman past. This archaeological site is a cultural jewel that connects us with the ancient history of Fuengirola and its relationship with the Roman Empire.
For their part, the Torreblanca Hot Springs are historical remains cataloged as Assets of Cultural Interest (BIC) by the Government of Andalusia since 2005. The archaeological remains found in them date back to the 1st century AD and reveal that the buildings were in operation until the 4th century AD.
Registration can be done now, upon presentation of a valid retiree card, at the Senior Citizens’ Area offices, located on Blanca Paloma Street, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
