The Fuengirola City Council reinforces security at the International Country Fair with a Special Plan during its celebration
Special attention will be paid to compliance with the schedule, from twelve noon to two in the morning, capacity limitations and alcohol and drug controls while driving. This year, a video surveillance system is incorporated into the operation with devices placed in the Fairgrounds and its surroundings that will report information in real time.
4/23/2026 – Fuengirola City Council will reinforce security during the celebration of the International Country Fair with a Special Plan. Mayor Ana Mula has given the details of this operation, together with the Councilor for Citizen Security, José Luis Ponce, the Chief Mayor of the Local Police, Sergio Luna, and the head of the Fire Prevention and Extinction Service, José Julián Bueno.
“Fuengirola is a safe and orderly city. Everything regarding security is organized and planned to guarantee the effectiveness of the measures put in place. The FIP celebrates 30 editions, which means accumulated experience, but never settle or relax. On the contrary, we try to learn from experience and improve each device,” said the councilor.
In this way, as far as human resources are concerned, the Local Police plans to provide 1,900 hours of service in total, paying attention to the control of the interior of the Fairgrounds, access supervision, attention to transit areas, surveillance of especially sensitive points, monitoring of entry and exit mobility, capacity control, protection of evacuation routes, as well as a coordinated response with the National Police in the event of any eventuality.
In this sense, Mula has indicated that the Security and Emergency Coordination Center will be located outside the Peace Palace. There will also be a permanent Firefighters checkpoint. And as a novelty in this edition, the control of the Video Surveillance System, which will be made up of a cablecam (aerial camera that runs along a steel cable) and sixteen video cameras placed at different points in the Fairgrounds and its surroundings. All of them will report images in real time that can alert you of any incident that occurs, increasing the speed of reaction in the event of an emergency.
On the other hand, as Mula has highlighted, the local security body will carry out random traffic controls in different parts of the city. The intervening agents will audit the speed with mobile radar, as well as whether the drivers are behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs to avoid improper driving.
All these measures are part of the Security Plan that the mayor herself presented, at the end of last year, with the idea of reinforcing order in the town. To these we must add the video surveillance system – with about 200 cameras distributed in different areas of the city -, the presence of officers on foot, mainly in commercial and high-traffic areas, the intensification of public lighting in leisure areas through the Public Services Control System, the control of personal mobility vehicles, as well as the speed awareness campaign, incompatibility of alcohol and drug consumption while driving and proper use of the scooter in the media. municipal communication.
Finally, Ana Mula has asked her neighbors and visitors to enjoy this 30th edition of the Los País International Fair, but also with responsibility and civility.
“I insist: we are a safe and orderly city. And to remain that way, we also all have to do our part as we always do: carrying out exemplary behavior. And if something happens, our police and firefighters will be there to intervene with their usual professionalism and vocation for service. I encourage you to experience a great International Fair of the Countries. And do it with the tranquility and joy that characterizes us,” he concluded.
