The Fuengirola City Council is acting on thirty incidents caused by the strong wind last morning
Around 2:00 a.m. today, strong gusts of wind were recorded that caused numerous incidents on public roads. An operation made up of Local Police, Firefighters, Urban Ecology, Road Intervention and Cleaning has worked all morning to restore normality in public spaces
12/16/2025 – Fuengirola City Council has activated a special operation early in the morning to evaluate and address the damage caused by the episode of strong winds and rain recorded last night in the city. First thing in the morning, Mayor Ana Mula, accompanied by the Councilor for Infrastructure, José Sánchez, traveled to different areas of the municipality to supervise the recorded incidents on the ground.

The mayor wanted to convey a message of tranquility to the residents, highlighting that “there have been no personal injuries, despite the intensity of the meteorological episode. Fuengirola was under a yellow warning due to rain and storms, although not due to wind, which has been the main cause of the incidents. According to data from the AEMET, gusts of up to 76 kilometers per hour were recorded around 2:00 am.” As for rainfall, 13.5 liters per square meter were recorded in just two hours, between 2:00 and 4:00 in the morning.
Starting at 2:11 a.m., there were numerous incidents on public roads as a result of an exceptional wind, outside the usual values, which caused the fall of trees, large branches, elements of street furniture and light structures, as well as material damage to more than twenty parked vehicles, without any injuries or serious situations being reported. The firefighters carried out more than thirty actions.
The main incidents have been concentrated in different parts of the municipality, including Avenida de Mijas, Calle Uruguay, Calle González Anaya, Calle Miguel Bueno, Calle Boquetillo, Calle Fuensanta, Calle Alicia, Calle Curro Claros, Calle Isaac Peral, Calle Párroco Jiménez Higuero, the Fairgrounds, the Paseo Marítimo, Paseo Santos Rein, Avenida Ramón y Cajal and the surroundings of the Fluvial Park.

In some enclaves, as the councilor herself has described, such as Martínez Catena Boulevard, “it was necessary to cut off traffic due to the fall of a heavy structure from a terrace, which due to its volume could not be removed at that time by the firefighters, leaving the area duly marked and secured.”
From the first moment, Local Police and Firefighters have worked in a coordinated manner throughout the night, responding to dozens of warnings, signaling affected areas, removing large trees and branches and guaranteeing the safety of both pedestrians and drivers.
Early in the morning, municipal services have continued with the cleaning work, removal of remains and assessment of damage, reinforcing the device especially on the Paseo Marítimo, educational centers, areas of greatest traffic, as well as in the Fairgrounds and Feria de Abril street. The operation has been reorganized according to needs, especially coinciding with the entry of schoolchildren starting at 9:00 a.m.
Despite the intensity of the wind and the magnitude of the meteorological episode, the response of the Local Police, Firefighters and municipal services has been quick, effective and exemplary, which is allowing the city to recover normality in the shortest possible time. The City Council wanted to expressly thank the dedication, professionalism and coordination of the Fuengirola Local Police, the Fire Service and the Municipal Operational Services of Conservation, Cleaning and Urban Ecology.
Likewise, the City Council appreciates the understanding, prudence and collaboration of the neighbors in the face of this exceptional situation and continues to actively monitor the meteorological evolution, working so that Fuengirola completely recovers normality and to repair the damage caused in the shortest possible time.
