The Fuengirola Half Marathon reaches 2,300 registrations and surpasses its historical participation record two weeks before its celebration
Female participation is also growing, with more than 750 registered, as well as international runners, who in this edition will be more than 350 from 30 different countries
10/21/2025 – The eighth edition of the Fuengirola Half Marathon has already reached 2,300 registered runners, surpassing its historical participation record with two weeks left until its celebration. This was announced this morning by the Sports Councilor, Julio Rodríguez, and the general director of Top Gestión, main sponsor of the event, Óscar Presa.
“We have already reached our historical record with 2,300 registered and there are still 16 days left for everyone who wants to sign up,” Rodríguez highlighted, pointing out that “this would be impossible without the transversal work of many people, from the volunteers, who this year will be more than 300, to the collaborating companies and our main sponsor, Top Gestión.”
The councilor has indicated that “we are on the path to reaching the 2,500 places that we have set as a limit. Furthermore, we have never had as many women as this year. 756 women have already registered today. This is 33% of the total, while three years ago there were barely 20% of women participating in the test.”
Runners of other nationalities have also grown, since as Rodríguez pointed out, “more than 350 visitors from 30 different countries have already signed up for this Half Marathon. We are going to have runners from Canada, the United States or China, passing through South Africa or New Zealand, which gives an idea of how far our Half Marathon is going.”
Regarding the 5 kilometer test, Julio Rodríguez has pointed out that, “two weeks ago the 500 available places were filled, so we have 1,800 people registered for the main test and 500 runners for the 5 kilometer distance.”
Another aspect highlighted by the Sports Councilor has been the progressive growth that the test has been registering in its latest editions, since “three years ago we had about 800 runners and in this time we have practically tripled participation.”
Rodríguez has thanked the work carried out by the entire human team of the Department of Sports that makes the Fuengirola Half Marathon possible and that “goes far beyond their work. It is an illusion, a passion and an enthusiasm that we have been experiencing for almost a year, because the day after the Half Marathon we were already collecting possible errors and studying improvements, so that Fuengirola is the most attractive Half Marathon in Andalusia”.
The mayor has encouraged “everyone to register for this Half Marathon on the website of dorsalchip.es. They have until November 5 to do so or until the number of 2,500 registered runners is reached.”
For Rodríguez, “the important thing is that Fuengirola residents take to the streets on November 9. It is essential. The majority of the runners, as soon as they cross the finish line, the first thing they tell us is that from the first kilometer to the last they have not stopped seeing people cheering and that is a differentiating factor of the Fuengirola Half Marathon with respect to any other similar event. And the people go out of their way to cheer on the runners, enjoying the brass band, with the batucada and with all the surprises that we have prepared during the tour and at the Fairgrounds.”
For his part, the director of Top Gestión, Óscar Presa, concluded that “November 9 is going to be a day of celebration. The great celebration of Fuengirola sports. Every year the day of the Half Marathon is beautiful and magnificent and the City Council and all the volunteers are making more and more efforts to make it a truly unique event and so that we can enjoy a magnificent day of sports. We, from Top Gestión, contribute our grain of sand, but the greatest asset of the event is the municipality of Fuengirola itself with everything it is capable of offering.”
