The Fuengirola City Council promotes the construction of a Residence for the Elderly and a Day Center in Carvajal

The City Council has put out to tender the transfer of rights to a municipal plot of more than 3,500 square meters on Begoña Street to build this facility. The successful bidder of this process will have to launch facilities with 120 places, of which at least 40% will have to be agreed with the Junta de Andalucía

6/23/2026 – The Fuengirola City Council promotes the construction of a Residence for the Elderly and a Day Center in Carvajal, specifically, on a municipally owned site located on Begoña street. The formula chosen by the Government team to make this social facility viable has been the transfer of rights to the aforementioned plot. In this sense, it has put out to tender this right so that interested companies can draft a project, build and manage a building with 120 places (40% of them agreed with the Government of Andalusia in accordance with the Dependency Law, at least), as well as a Day Center for 40 dependent people (half of them also agreed).

“A residence for the elderly is something that we have been demanding for years in our city. Given the difficulties in carrying it out in the place where it was, next to the river park, we have decided to explore another option: We located the only possible municipal land in our municipality to be able to do it, here, in Carvajal. In one of the best areas of the city. A plot of more than 3,000 square meters whose processing for the transfer we have already put out to tender. The idea is to grant the rights to this surface to a company in the sector that writes, builds and manages this service,” explained Mayor Ana Mula, who has announced the launch of this public contracting process together with the mayor of Social Welfare, Cristina Bornao.

In this way, the tender price of this contract establishes that the company that is awarded will have to contribute 772,892.12 euros to obtain the rights to use these lands for the next 75 years, which have a surface area of ​​3,527 square meters and a buildable area of ​​around 9,000 square meters.

Likewise, you will have to take charge of both the technical planning and the construction of the building. In this regard, as the councilor has detailed, the residence will have to have 120 places, of which, at least, 40% will have to be arranged with the Junta de Andalucía based on the Dependency Law, while three of them will be available to the Social Services of the City Council free of charge. Under the specifications that govern the process, at least 10% of the rooms in this infrastructure will be individual.

In addition, the successful bidder will have to create and launch a Day Center for 40 people, of which at least 20 of them will have to be subject to the regional agreement.

This bidding process was published last week and the deadline for submitting offers expires on July 17.

“I call on all companies in the elderly care sector to participate in this process, as it is a fundamental service for the well-being of Fuengirola residents,” concluded Ana Mula.
