5/29/2026 – Fuengirola City Council is advancing the reform of the Fire Station to reinforce security and modernize the service. The mayor Ana Mula, accompanied by the Councilor for Urban Planning, Rocío Arriaga, as well as the head of the Fire Prevention and Extinction Service, José Julián Bueno, have visited the works. In addition, the acquisition of a new light urban pump truck is being put out to tender to complete the Corps’ fleet of vehicles, so the municipal investment in the improvement of this department, between both interventions, is around one and a half million euros.
“Fuengirola is a safe and orderly city, and it is because we have sufficient human and technical resources and full and permanent coordination between all the bodies that ensure security. It is necessary to continually review the means and tools we have to have the best position to react to any emergency,” explained the councilor.

In this way, the works began at the beginning of last April by the company that was awarded the public tender opened this year, specifically, A7GR Servicios y Obras, SL, which won over the other two companies that opted for the competition.
The budget for the action has finally resulted in 828,910.39 euros, which is almost 150,000 euros of what was initially established in the bidding process. The execution period is 176 days, 64 less than what was stated in the specifications that have governed this public contracting process.
The intervention includes a partial and strategic renovation of the building, over an approximate area of 1,400 square meters. The objective is to modernize the facilities, improve security and optimize the operation of the Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Service.
Among the main improvements, the reorganization of spaces stands out, clearly separating public areas from operational ones, which will allow more effective operation, especially in emergency situations. The new layout will facilitate direct visual control of the garage and maneuvers, reducing response times and improving internal coordination.
Likewise, key areas, such as the control room, will be equipped with state-of-the-art means, and an emergency room or CECOPAL will be created to manage major incidents. The project also plans to improve the comfort of rest and work spaces, with healthier lighting, greater thermal and acoustic insulation and facilities adapted to current standards.
The renovation of the garage and the exterior patio will allow better organization of vehicles and materials, the creation of new storage spaces, natural ventilation systems and the installation of a forced gas extraction system for trucks. In addition, a new emergency vehicle exit door will be installed and the façade of the building will be updated, giving it a more modern and recognizable image.
The areas that will be remodeled also include the training room, which will improve the training of SPEIS members and host training activities aimed at citizens.

On the other hand, Mula has announced that the City Council is putting out to tender the acquisition of a new light urban pump truck with capacity for six firefighters in its cabin, state-of-the-art firefighting, extrication and rescue equipment, as well as a cistern with a capacity for 2,000 liters of water.
The tender budget amounts to 589,270 euros, the initial execution period to create this vehicle 285 days. Companies interested in opting for this public procurement process have until June 8 to submit their proposals.
