The Fuengirola City Council appreciates the collaboration and behavior of citizens during Holy Week
The Special Security Plan resulted in just over 30 warnings managed, none of them serious.
Traffic controls were organized to prevent negligent driving in nearly 2,000 vehicles
04/07/2026. The Fuengirola City Council has thanked citizens for their collaboration and behavior during the past Holy Week, in which there were no serious incidents that have compromised the general security of the municipality. In this sense, Mayor Ana Mula, who held a meeting today with the Councilor for Citizen Security, José Luis Ponce, and those responsible for the Local Police and Firefighters, has assured that the special Security operation designed for these dates has been satisfactory.
“Once again, the behavior of Fuengirola residents and visitors was exemplary. And when some kind of problem occurred, it was conveniently dealt with by the Local and National Police and Firefighters. The Special Security device for this celebration has worked well and we are already working to continue updating it with the experience for future seasons of influx of visitors,” he stated.
The device has been made up of 140 extraordinary services of Local Police agents, between last Friday of Sorrows and Easter Sunday. In this period, the Emergency Room has managed just over 30 notices, none of them of great impact or impact on the general safety of the city. Most of them happened during the evening of last Saturday, April 4.
At the same time, agents have carried out random traffic controls in different parts of the city. The intervening police officials have audited the speed with mobile radar, as well as whether the drivers were behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs to avoid improper driving.
In total, they have supervised nearly 2,000 vehicles to file 52 complaints for exceeding the maximum speed allowed, four for exceeding the blood alcohol level and thirteen for being behind the wheel under the influence of a narcotic substance.

Likewise, the Rescue and First Aid Service has functioned normally during this time without the need for significant actions. Just a dozen small interventions by its operators.
At an economic level, the Tourism Office has placed hotel occupancy at 73% and unemployment levels were, in March – coinciding with this period that represents the beginning of the high season – at the best figures of the last eighteen years, lowering the barrier of 4,500 unemployed.
“It has been a good week, in which, in general terms, control and a good atmosphere have prevailed. I want to thank the people of Fuengirola for their collaboration and behavior. Extraordinary and essential to be able to talk about these results today. And also to our agents from the Local Police, Firefighters and National Police for the extraordinary work they have done during these days. That combination between exemplary citizens and committed agents is what makes Fuengirola continue to be and increasingly be recognized as a safe and orderly city.”, he has concluded the councilor, who has insisted that they are already working on the coordination and organization of new operations “with self-criticism and reinforcing the services that are necessary.”
