3/20/2026 – The Councilor for Families, Equality and Social Welfare, Cristina Bornao, presented at a press conference the workshop ‘First Aid for Caregivers: Training that Saves Lives’, an initiative promoted by the Senior Citizens Area of the Fuengirola City Council in collaboration with the Costa del Sol Health District.
This training program aims to strengthen the capabilities of caregivers, especially those who care for the elderly, minors or people in a situation of dependency, providing them with key tools to act in emergency situations.
The workshop will be held on April 8, at the Social Home on Blanca Paloma Street, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and will be taught by specialized health personnel. The registration period will open on March 31, and applications can be made at the offices of the Senior Citizens Area on Blanca Paloma Street.
During his speech, Bornao highlighted that “caregivers play an essential role in our society, and providing them with adequate training not only improves the quality of care, but also contributes to creating safer environments in homes.”
Among the main objectives of the workshop are: training in basic first aid techniques; teach cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers; act correctly in cases of choking, falls, burns and injuries; recognize warning signs of possible emergencies; and promote the prevention of domestic accidents.
This training will allow participants to gain greater security and confidence in critical situations, reduce the risk of complications in domestic accidents, improve the quality of care and reduce stress in emergencies.
The Area of Families, Equality and Social Welfare emphasizes that “investing in first aid training is investing in lives”, thus reinforcing the municipal commitment to the well-being and safety of citizens.
