2/3/2026 – The Manuel Delgado Perea House of Culture in Fuengirola will host this Thursday, March 5, starting at 8:00 p.m., the play ‘Mujeres de Oro’, a performance included in the ‘Fuengirola por ella’ program, designed to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8.

The Councilor for Culture, Rodrigo Romero, has reported on this cultural initiative, which will feature the participation of actresses Ruth Gabriel and Montse Peidro, under the direction of Jorge Rivera. Tickets can be purchased for a price of 5 euros on the website https://entradas.fuengirola.es or at the information point of the Miramar Shopping Center, from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Mujeres de Oro is a multidisciplinary show that is presented in recital format with live music. During the recital, the audience will meet many ladies of the theater of the Spanish Golden Age, listening to what they did, what they said, what they said about them and, especially, how they lived and died, with exciting lives full of comedy, drama, and above all art.

The work analyzes the importance of women in the Spanish Golden Age (1492-1659). In our classical tradition, unlike other European theaters, women have not only been actresses (comedian or farcist), but also directors, playwrights, plastic artists, etc. We know from historical sources of hundreds of women who actively participated in the Golden Age theatrical festival. But how many of their stories do we know?

The intention is to recover lives, texts and characters that have not reached the general public to demonstrate that women were an important part of our Golden Age. Unfortunately, many of the texts and testimonies have been lost and are recreated or fictionalized, but always with absolute historical rigor.
