The New Marina of Fuengirola advances in its administrative processing

In the last coordination meeting between the competent administrations, the Ministry has specified new environmental requirements and reports that the City Council will attend to as soon as possible. A prompt response from the central government is also expected so that this strategic project can become a reality as soon as possible.

2/19/2026 – The administrative processing of the New Fuengirola Marina continues to advance after the coordination meeting held last Tuesday with representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility and the Public Agency for Ports of Andalusia, with the aim of promoting the necessary procedures of the project. This was reported by the mayor Ana Mula, together with the councilor responsible for the area, José Sánchez, pointing out that in this last work session important aspects of the environmental reports have been clarified and defined, which will be addressed as soon as possible. Likewise, a prompt response is expected from the central government so that this strategic project for the city can become a reality as soon as possible.

During her speech, the councilor explained that this meeting has made it possible to consolidate progress in a highly complex administrative process that requires an exhaustive analysis by various departments of the state and regional administrations to guarantee the viability of the action: “In this last meeting, new environmental requirements and reports have been clarified by the Ministry that we will attend to as soon as possible, as always, since a good part of the work in this area has already been carried out on several occasions.”

“We are facing a strategic project for the present and future of our city. The procedures are complicated, but we work so that each phase is perfectly evaluated. We continue to collaborate in a coordinated manner with all administrations so that this initiative continues to advance with guarantees, despite the difficulties,” he noted.

Mula recalled that the new port is destined to become the municipality’s major tourist and commercial attraction, as well as its main economic engine and job generator. “It is a fundamental infrastructure for the development of Fuengirola that will change the axis on which the city pivots. We are talking about an ambitious and very exciting objective in which we have not stopped working intensely so that it ends up becoming a reality as soon as possible,” he added.

The preliminary project includes doubling the current number of moorings to nearly a thousand, enabling docking spaces for cruise ships up to 160 meters in length, new commercial areas and an underground parking lot with capacity for more than 700 vehicles, among other improvements.

The municipal objective is to create a modern space, open to the Paseo Marítimo and integrated into the city, aligned with the urban transformation model promoted by the City Council, consolidating this infrastructure as a key piece of the local economic and tourist future.
