2/13/2026 – Fuengirola will become a reference point for European jazz from February 26 to March 1 with the celebration of the XXII International Jazz and Modern Music Seminar in Malaga. This is a first-class cultural event, unique in Andalusia, which will bring together international teachers and students from different countries around an intense training and musical programme.

The seminar will offer more than 30 activities including workshops, master classes, concerts and jam sessions, which will take place in different spaces in the city such as the House of Culture, the Speakeasy Jazz Club, the Las Palmeras hotel or the Plaza Reyes Católicos. The Councilor for Culture, Rodrigo Romero, presented the event together with the representatives of the Lauroarte Musical Association, the organizing entity, Pablo García Vega and Yesenia Zambrano.

Romero highlighted that “the International Jazz and Modern Music Seminar of Malaga returns to Fuengirola to celebrate its twenty-second edition with a high-level programme. Last year it had a strong impact and on this occasion it is once again betting on the city and the House of Culture with a very interesting initiative due to the quality of the international teaching staff, its ability to attract young talent and the offer of concerts open to the public.”

As part of the program, on Saturday, February 28, at 8:00 p.m., he will perform at the Van Iterson & Friends Culture House, with free admission until capacity is reached. “After the large influx last year, two sessions have been scheduled for this edition: one aimed at seminar participants and another open to the general public,” explained the mayor.

Likewise, on Sunday, March 1, at 1:30 p.m., Plaza Reyes Católicos will host the performance of the Jove Bigband, from Valencia and directed by Francisco Blanco ‘Latino’, one of the seminar’s professors. “This is a young group of enormous quality that will offer a very attractive show for all audiences,” added Romero.

For her part, Yesenia Zambrano has indicated that “the long-term objective is for Fuengirola to become the stable headquarters of this international seminar, since it is an ideal city to celebrate it and very attractive for foreign students.” Students from countries such as Canada, the United States, Switzerland, Belgium and Holland, as well as different parts of Spain, will participate in this edition.

Pablo García Vega explained that “every night there will be jam sessions at the Las Palmeras hotel, starting at 11:30 p.m., with free entry. In addition, the Speakeasy Jazz Club will host three concerts: a welcome one, an intermediate one and a closing one. During those days, Fuengirola will live jazz continuously with performances by great artists.”
