Fuengirola closes a successful Christmas with broad citizen participation despite the inclement weather

The programming, made up of more than a hundred activities, developed normally thanks to the reorganization of the events and the work of municipal services

8/1/2026 – The Councilor for Festivals and Traditions of the Fuengirola City Council, Isabel Moreno, offered this morning an assessment of Christmas in the city, highlighting the great acceptance of the more than one hundred scheduled activities and the effort made so that neighbors and visitors could enjoy the festivities “organized with a lot of love and enthusiasm”, despite the fact that the rain was the main protagonist of these dates.

Moreno has stressed that “once Christmas is over it is difficult to stick to just one activity, because everything is organized so that a large number of people, of all ages, can enjoy a wonderful Christmas, in coordination with the different councillors.”

The Christmas program began on November 28 with the lighting of the artistic lighting in the Plaza de España and the inauguration of the exhibition The Magic of Christmas in the City Museum, while the Christmas Market in the Plaza de la Constitución opened its doors the day before.

During these weeks, the traditional atmosphere reached all the neighborhoods of Fuengirola thanks to the performances of the Pastoral Santa Fe de Los Boliches and the Coro de la Hermandad del Rocío, which offered popular Christmas carols accompanied by free tastings of chocolate with churros.

The Cristóbal Blanca del Moral auditorium in Parque de España also hosted numerous Christmas zambombas that, in many cases, had to be rescheduled due to bad weather. In this sense, the councilor has recognized that “it has been a difficult Christmas, with many changes in dates and times, up to three or four performances being concentrated on the same day, so that no artist or neighbor was left without enjoying them.”

Among the most notable events, Moreno has pointed out the traditional Christmas Bonfire, held the day before Christmas Eve in the Plaza de la Constitución, as well as the Medieval Festival, which this year “has been one of the best in terms of showiness, number of activities, children’s workshops and parades, making the children enjoy it to the fullest.”

The New Year’s Eve Party was also affected by the rain, although it allowed us to enjoy around an hour and a half of celebration with the performance of Paco, Llina and Familia, to say goodbye to 2025 and welcome 2026. January 2 was dedicated to the reception of the Royal Pages in the Plaza Reyes Católicos, in the morning and afternoon.

The councilor made special mention of January 5, thanking the work of all the people involved in a “very complicated” Three Kings Parade due to the weather conditions. For this, two options were prepared: a static parade in the Peace Palace and the traditional open-air parade, which could finally be held until the end in Los Boliches. The parade included more than 25 floats, 10 parades and the distribution of more than 30,000 kilos of candy.

Finally, Isabel Moreno thanked the work of the different municipal services, Local Police, National Police and Firefighters, as well as the exemplary behavior of families and children. “The rain has forced us to adapt, but we can feel proud and grateful for this Christmas. We are already working on Christmas 2026,” he concluded.
