The Juanito Pavilion in Fuengirola will host the II Daniel Güet Commemorative Fencing Tournament on January 18

Güet was the architect of the creation of the city’s Fencing School and Club, which he presided over for nearly five decades.

7/1/2026 – The Juan Gómez Juanito pavilion in Fuengirola will host the II Daniel Güet Commemorative Fencing Tournament on January 18. This was announced this morning by the Councilor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, the president of the Fuengirola Fencing Club, José Núñez, and the son of the honoree, Pascal Güet.

“Today we present a highlight of the sports programming that we were really looking forward to, because it is organized with a lot of love, with passion and with the enthusiasm that the Fuengirola Fencing Club always has, the leading club in our city promoted by Daniel Güet, to whom we feel very close, because no one leaves if they are not forgotten and the fencing club and its president José Núñez has it very much in mind, both in the daily learning of its students and in details such as this second commemorative foil tournament. which will be held on Sunday, January 18 in the Juan Gómez Juanito pavilion,” said Rodríguez.

In this sense, the mayor highlighted that “it is an opportunity to bring together more than fifty shooters in the foil modality, from young people to veterans, with a large presence of the hosts but also of many clubs and athletes who have known Daniel Güet for a long time and did not want to miss the event.”

For his part, José Núñez explained in this sense that “we are very happy to organize this second tournament and we are going to have the participation of several clubs from Seville, Granada, Córdoba, as well as different shooters, who will come individually because they knew Daniel Güet and wanted to be present.”

Pascal Güet, son of the honoree, thanked “the efforts of the Fuengirola Fencing Club and its president José Núñez for giving continuity to this sport in the city, as well as the Fuengirola City Council and its Sports Councilor, for holding this commemorative tournament that remembers my father and that for me and for the family is very important. I can only be grateful that my father’s memory is preserved through this tournament.”
