10/6/2025 – The Manuel Delgado Perea House of Culture in Fuengirola will be the scene on October 16, starting at 8:00 p.m., of the concert ‘Echoes of Bohemia and Germania, The Trace of a European Violinist’, offered by the Halíř Trio, formed by Eduardo García Salas, a Spanish violinist residing in Prague; the Slovak cellist Jana Podolská; and the Czech pianist Barbora K. Sejáková. This was announced this morning by the Councilor for Culture, Rodrigo Romero.

“We are going to start our Fair week shortly, but we want to inform you about what is going to come next, so that everyone can make their plans, because an exceptional trio dedicated to the figure of Karel Halíř, one of the greatest violinists who lived between the 19th and 20th centuries is going to visit us,” said Romero, indicating that “it will be on October 16 at eight in the afternoon at the House of Culture. Tickets They have a price of 5 euros and can be purchased on the website https://entradas.fuengirola.es, at the information point of the Miramar Shopping Center, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. or at the House of Culture before the start of the concert.”

The Halíř Trio emerged in 2016 with the aim of raising awareness of the figure of the Czech virtuoso violinist Karel Halíř (Vrchlabí 1859 – Berlin 1909). After the unexpected death of the prominent Czech pianist Václav Mácha, the Halíř Trio is formed by Eduardo García Salas, a Spanish violinist living in Prague; the Slovak cellist Jana Podolská; and the Czech pianist Barbora K. Sejáková. The members of the Halíř Trio are winners of international competitions such as the Slovak Conservatory Competition, the Karl-Bergemann Competition in Hannover, the European Music Prize Contest in Hannover and Dublin, among others.

The ensemble has performed at festivals in Castilla-La Mancha, Juventudes Musicales de Mahón, the Córdoba chamber music cycle, the Metropole Theater in Tarragona, the Enrique Granados Auditorium in Lleida, the Teatro del Títere in Cádiz, as well as in numerous cities in the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Macedonia, Malta, etc.

In the summer of 2017, the Halíř Trio recorded their first CD: Granados – Dvořák, at the Enrique Granados Auditorium in Lleida (Spain) for the Czech label ArcoDiva, with distribution by Naxos. The album includes the Piano Trio in C major op. 50 by Enrique Granados and the Piano Trio in F minor op. 65 by Antonín Dvořák. This last work can be considered not only one of the peaks of Dvořák’s chamber music, but also one of the most relevant of the entire genre. Karel Halíř performed the German premiere of this piece in Mannheim, on December 2, 1883. The album was presented on April 5, 2018 as “CD of the day” on the Český rozhlas Vltava (Czech Radio Vltava) station.

The next recording project of the Halíř Trio, again with ArcoDiva and Naxos, will be the Trio in A minor op. 17 by Paul Juon—premiered by Karel Halíř in 1902—and the Piano Trio in A minor op. 50 by PI Tchaikovsky, a work with which Halíř performed in January 1888 in Leipzig in the presence of the composer himself.
