10/6/2025 – The coast of Fuengirola will host the III Non-Anchored Sport Fishing Contest from October 17 to 19. This was announced this morning by the Sports Councilor, Julio Rodríguez, and the president of the El Puerto Sport Fishing Club, Pedro Núñez.
“Today we announce the first major sporting event that we are going to celebrate in Fuengirola after the Rosario Fair, which will take place from October 17 to 19 on our coast thanks to the El Puerto Fishing Club, which this year celebrates its 30th anniversary and has not stopped organizing activities together with the Fuengirola City Council such as the children’s fishing contest, the inclusive fishing contest… and now they present the Unanchored Sport Fishing Contest,” he said. Rodriguez explained.
The mayor highlighted the “important” effort made by the El Puerto Club and congratulated them “because they are a reference in sport fishing and the people who come know that they are going to have a good time and that they are going to participate in a perfectly organized competition. And that makes us feel very proud. I want to thank Pedro Núñez and his entire team for the effort they make to provide the contest with important prizes, which in this edition exceed 3,300 euros.”
For his part, Pedro Núñez has pointed out that “this unanchored fishing contest emerged three years ago and includes a series of boats and fishermen with different ways of fishing and where a variety of very large catches are achieved, because we have a very rich fauna on our coastline.”
The contest will begin on the 17th with the skippers meeting. The competition itself will start on Saturday the 18th at 8:00 in the morning and will last until 7:00 p.m. The weighing of the captured pieces is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. On Sunday the 19th the competition will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The weigh-in will be at 5:30 p.m. and the trophy presentation ceremony will take place a couple of hours later at the El Andamio club at the Fairgrounds.
