9/9/2025 – The City of Fuengirola has renewed with LED lighting the football field ‘Jesús Gámez’, as well as the athletics track that surrounds it in the Elola Sports Complex. This was announced this morning by the Councilor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, who explained that the installation of the new luminaires has already ended and now the orientation of the projectors are being carried out, to ensure that the light covers all the areas of the field in a homogeneous way.
“The works are being developed by the Treboluz company, which is the winner of this contract that has two months of execution and will end before the expected. The initial tender price was 47,900 euros and was finally awarded for 31,000 euros, with a saving of more than 16,000 euros for municipal coffers and for all Fuegiroleños,” Rodriguez explained.
In this sense, the mayor has pointed out that “in just one week we have seen how the installation work of the new luminaires are completed and are now undertaking an orientation phase, which is very sophisticated and delicate, because focus on focus, and there are 35, the necessary degrees are moving so that the LED light is properly projected.” Rodríguez recalled that the previous lighting was still halogen and had suffered many external aggressions and erosion by the rain, the wind and the action of the seagulls.
“With this action we continue advancing in the sports facilities plan. In the last year, all the improvement commitments we had in the Elola Sports Complex have become facts: the transformation of the Squash tracks; the renewal of the two pavilions, with new technical soil and air conditioning; the creation of three new rooms… we are talking about an important investment in Elola, with the commitment of our mayor to continue improving the mayor and The comfort of our users, ”he said.
The Councilor for Sports has been “very happy and satisfied to see how all our sports clubs and all athletes who use these facilities have seen how, quickly, LED lighting has already been put, which in addition to improving the lighting of the facilities, also helps us to increase energy efficiency, with less consumption and therefore with a lower expense, and also with less light pollution”.
Before concluding, the mayor has thanked the work developed “for all the technicians who have participated in the processing of this contract.
