The City Council promotes rehabilitation works in eleven schools in Fuengirola

Acapulco, Andalucía, Azahar, Cervantes, El Tejar, Boliches, Picasso, Santa Amalia, Sohail, Syalis and Valdelecrín are the centers where action is being taken. The latest rains have caused damage to several educational centers in the municipality, which is why an action plan has been drawn up focusing on roofs, covers and cornices.

3/16/2026 – Fuengirola City Council has launched a rehabilitation plan in eleven public schools in the city. This was announced this morning by the mayor, Ana Mula, during her visit to the Sohail school, one of the centers where this work is already being carried out, accompanied by the Councilor for Education, Carmen Díaz.

“The maintenance of public schools is a matter that we take very seriously. Our janitors work daily to detect and resolve incidents that occur. And when these actions require larger interventions, the City Council implements the necessary measures to solve them,” said the councilor.

In this sense, Mula explained that the recent rains have caused damage to several educational centers in the municipality, which is why an urgent action plan has been drawn up focused mainly on the repair of roofs, covers and cornices.

Specifically, incidents have been detected related to detachments in roof elements, lifting of asphalt fabrics and deterioration in cornices, situations that could pose a risk to the users of these educational facilities.

The centers in which these actions are being carried out are Acapulco, Andalucía, Azahar, Cervantes, El Tejar, Los Boliches, Picasso, Santa Amalia, Sohail, Syalis and Valdelecrín.

The company Glesa will be in charge of carrying out the work, which has a budget of 89,993.75 euros and an expected execution period until next July.

“As the safety of our schoolchildren is a priority, we have put out to tender an emergency action that will allow these repairs to be carried out progressively,” said the mayor. Likewise, Mula has indicated that the works will be organized to make them compatible, as far as possible, with the teaching activities of the centers.

“We continue working so that our children and young people have the best conditions to develop their learning,” the mayor concluded.
