Fuengirola will host the second edition of ‘La Kizomba Festival’ from March 20 to 22

The Teresa Zabell square and the Las Palmeras hotel will be the scene of this international meeting that will bring together 21 artists and more than 300 fans from different countries around the Angolan dances kizomba and semba

3/13/2026 – The Councilor for Culture of the Fuengirola City Council, Rodrigo Romero, accompanied by the president of the cultural association La Kizomba Project, Olga Blanco, presented today at a press conference the second edition of ‘La Kizomba Festival’, an international meeting dedicated to dances of Angolan origin that will be held from March 20 to 22 in Plaza Teresa Zabell and the Las Palmeras hotel.

This cultural and musical event will bring together dancers, artists and fans from different countries in the city, consolidating Fuengirola as an international meeting point for lovers of kizomba and semba, two styles of partner dance originating from Angola that have experienced notable growth and popularity in recent years.

“Last year it was very well received and in this second edition it will acquire greater relevance, with more than 20 participating artists and 300 attendees already registered, from countries such as the United States or Japan,” said Romero, who highlighted that it is a private initiative that has municipal support with the aim of continuing to expand the cultural and tourist offer of the city, especially in times of lower hotel occupancy.

The activity will take place mainly in a ‘social dance’ format, a very common modality in this type of meeting in which participants come together to dance and interact freely throughout the weekend, both amateurs and professionals of different levels and origins sharing the floor.

In this sense, Olga Blanco has explained that “kizomba is a very family dance, a meeting dance, similar to our Sunday family gatherings around food, where grandparents dance with their grandchildren. In addition, over time it has also become a couples dance similar to the tango, which has promoted the celebration of numerous international festivals.”

The festival began last year with the participation of eight artists and nearly 100 attendees, while in this second edition there are already 21 confirmed artists and more than 300 people registered, which reflects the growth and international interest that this event has aroused.

International artists and live performances

In this second edition, La Kizomba Festival will feature the participation of 21 artists, including dancers and DJs specialized in these musical styles. Likewise, the event will attract an international audience from Japan, the United States and numerous European countries, especially highlighting the presence of fans from Poland, Italy, Germany and Romania.

Among the guests is also Kanda, a well-known singer within the kizomba culture, who will offer a live performance during the festival.

The program will also include dance shows starring champions of this discipline, which will take place outdoors in Teresa Zabell Square, as well as a choreography session starring women, which will be recorded on Sunday in this same space, next to the Mediterránea sculpture.

Likewise, the organization has planned to hold a small parade, whose location and time have yet to be confirmed, although it could take place on Saturday afternoon in the square or on Friday night in the hall where other festival activities will take place.

A growing international event

According to the organization’s forecasts, this second edition will bring together around 300 participants in Fuengirola, including guest artists and attendees, which confirms the growth and international projection of this festival.

During the presentation, the Councilor for Culture underlined the importance of initiatives like this to diversify the city’s cultural programming, attract visitors from different countries and continue positioning Fuengirola as a destination open to culture and international events.

With proposals such as ‘La Kizomba Festival’, Fuengirola continues to expand its cultural offer with participatory activities, open to the public and with a marked international character.
