12/17/2025 – The Senior Citizens Area of the Fuengirola City Council, coordinated by the Councilor for Families, Equality and Social Welfare, Cristina Bornao, has launched a new online dance workshop aimed at the elderly in the municipality, which will begin once the Christmas holidays are over.
This initiative, which is incorporated as a novelty into municipal programming, aims to promote active aging, physical activity and socialization among the city’s seniors. Registration is now open and can be done at the Senior Citizens’ offices on Blanca Paloma Street until capacity is reached.
Line dancing is a modality in which participants stand in rows and perform synchronized choreography without the need to dance as a partner, making it an accessible and inclusive activity for people of all ages and levels. In addition, it adapts to different musical styles and allows all participants to follow the same movements individually.
Among the main benefits of this discipline are the improvement of cardiovascular health, balance and coordination, as well as the strengthening of memory, cognitive activity and emotional well-being. Likewise, it helps reduce stress, enhance socialization, tone muscles and increase flexibility.
The classes will be taught at the Home on Blanca Paloma Street and will be organized into four groups, which will start at the initial level. The hours will be Monday afternoons, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. or from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Friday mornings, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
