The Fuengirola City Council renews the planters in Plaza Picasso to improve their condition and respond to a neighborhood demand
The Infrastructure Area carries out the work with a municipal investment of 47,700 euros and a completion period of 30 days
11/5/2025 – The Fuengirola City Council has begun the improvement works on Plaza Picasso, where the planters are being completely renovated. The action, promoted by the Departments of Infrastructure and Urban Ecology, seeks to resolve the waterproofing problems detected and address a demand raised by the residents of the area.
The Councilor for Infrastructure and Urban Ecology, José Sánchez, explained that the intervention was necessary due to the deterioration of the pavement and the growth of tree roots. “The planters had deficiencies and in some cases the roots had broken the waterproofing, causing leaks. That is why we have decided to act and renew the entire set,” he noted.
The work includes the demolition of the existing planters, the transplanting of trees to other green areas of the city and the construction of new, more resistant and functional concrete elements. Some of the new planters will incorporate built-in seating to facilitate resting for pedestrians, and all vegetation will be replaced.
The municipal investment amounts to 47,700 euros and the execution period is 30 days. “The works began yesterday and, if no unforeseen events arise, the square will be completely renovated for the Inmaculada bridge,” Sánchez advanced.
For her part, the councilor responsible for the central district, Cristina Bornao, has highlighted the importance of citizen collaboration in this type of action. “This project is a good example of how the participation of neighbors and the coordination between different municipal areas allow us to continuously improve our neighborhoods,” he stated.
