Institutional declaration of congratulations from the Corporate Plenary to clubs and athletes from Fuengirola


The mayor has highlighted, on behalf of the Corporation, the successes of Fuengirola athletes in recent weeks

07/22/2026. The Plenary Session of the Fuengirola City Council has approved in its ordinary session of the month of July, held today, an institutional motion to publicly congratulate several athletes from the city for the merits achieved in different sports competitions held recently.

On behalf of the entire municipal Corporation, Mayor Ana Mula has congratulated the honorees, highlighting that their achievements are the result of talent, effort, discipline and perseverance, in addition to being a source of pride for the entire city. The proposal literally reads like this:

“On this occasion, in the middle of the summer season, sports disciplines more typical of these months such as paddlesurfing and swimming take center stage, while still highlighting successes in karate, athletics, tennis and figure skating.

We begin by congratulating the Fuengirola Karate Club, for the brilliant results obtained by its karatekas in the Andalusia Trophy, held last June 13, in Antequera, obtaining 23 medals and being the winners in the overall medal table of the Championship:

The club’s participation in this sporting event has been of great value, once again taking the name of Fuengirola to the top and consolidating the club as a reference for Karate at the Andalusian level, in a competition with more than 650 participants.

We change the modality to congratulate the player from the Fuengirola Table Tennis Club, Daniel López López, for his participation in the Top-24 of the best players in the Honor League of Andalusia, being 1st in the Group 6 Ranking, in the Championship held on June 13 and 14, in the Granada town of Vegas del Genil.

Another step for our table tennis club, which day by day, begins to see its work reflected within the Andalusian panorama. In fact, in order not to lose shape, he continues training all summer in the Elola pavilion.

In aquatic disciplines, the SUP RACE team of Club Náutico Fuengirola deserves this congratulatory mention for the excellent results obtained in the tournaments detailed below:

Nora Lhassar Estable, for the extraordinary performance carried out in the Spanish Paddelsurf Championship, held in Villanueva y Geltrú (Barcelona), on May 2 and 3.

The young athlete from the local club has managed to become the Absolute Champion of Spain, and therefore of her under-12 category, in the Sprint, Technical and

Long distance. A result of enormous merit that reflects their talent, discipline and competitive ability, as well as the excellent training work that the club carries out in our city.

Likewise, we also want to highlight the participants of the Fuengirola Yacht Club in the XI DISCOVER HUELVA SUP FESTIVAL ISLA CRISTINA BEACH RACE, a test that is part of the National League of the Spanish Surf Federation, and where the best national paddle surf specialists met, held in the Huelva city of Isla Cristina on July 11, with the following results:

Cristóbal Porras, silver in the under-10 category Nora Lhassar, gold in the under-14 category Marco Mazure, bronze in the under-18 category Rodrigo López, silver in the Senior Elite Ana Estable, gold in the Women’s Master Elite category Abel Porras, gold in the Men’s Master Elite category

Congratulate the local athlete Avril Macel for the results obtained in the summer athletics season, being runner-up in Andalusia sub-18, in the 100 meter dash modality, and bronze medal in the Spanish sub-18 Championship, in the 4×100 relay modality.

The season of the Fuengirola native has been outstanding, finishing with a mark of 12 seconds and one tenth, remaining on the verge of participation in the European Championship. And from a promising athlete to a dedicated one who gives us joy in each championship. We congratulate the Fuengirola swimmer María de Valdés for her brilliant performance in the CXIII (113) Spanish Absolute Summer Open Championship, held from June 25 to 28 at the Son Hugo Pools in Palma de Mallorca, where she achieved a gold triplet. María was proclaimed champion of Spain in the 400, 800 and 1,500 meter freestyle, also achieving the minimum for the European Championship in the 800 and 1,500 meter events. Some successes that once again place the name of Fuengirola

among the elite of national and international swimming and that are a source of pride for the entire city.

During these days and until August 26, the City Museum hosts the ‘Olympic Legends’ exhibition. And among the many attractions of the exhibition, María has lent her low suit, hat and glasses with which she competed in the Paris Olympic Games. I encourage you to enjoy the exhibition featuring local athletes such as Theresa Zabell, the only Spanish woman to achieve two Olympic gold medals, and Juan Gómez Juanito, who competed just 50 years ago in the Montreal Olympic Games with the Spanish soccer team.

We continue with good news by congratulating the swimmers of the Fuengirola Swimming Club, for the results obtained in the Andalusian Summer Swimming Championships in different categories:

ANDALUCIA ALEVÍN CHAMPIONSHIP, held in Dos Hermanas (Seville), in the week of June 12 to 14: Juan Diego Clemente Da Silva, bronze in 800 meters freestyle.

CHILDREN’S ANDALUSIAN CHAMPIONSHIP, held in Cádiz, in the week of June 19 to 21:

Alejandro Martín Padilla, bronze in the 1,500 meter freestyle, and silver in the 800 meter freestyle.

Telma Cardona Holzman, silver in the 200-meter breaststroke, bronze in the 50-meter breaststroke, and silver in the 100-meter breaststroke.

In this month of July we also celebrate the successes of the El Tejar de Fuengirola Skating Club, for the magnificent results obtained in championships both nationally and internationally, which we detail below:

We congratulate the Show Promo Group for the runner-up position in the National Figure Skating Trophy, held on June 28, in Alhaurín El Grande.

We also congratulate the Small Show Group, for having been proclaimed champions of the Riccioni International Tournament (Italy), held on June 28.

In individual Solo Dance mode, Congratulate Claudia Cuenca Gutiérrez, for the bronze medal, in the cadet category, achieved at the Dijon International Tournament (France), from May 21 to 24; In the same way, we give our recognition to Felicitá Cáceres, for having been proclaimed Champion, in the same competition, within the juvenile category.

Already in Fuengirola, the Juanito pavilion once again hosted the XIII Spanish Solo Dance Championship for youth, juniors and seniors. An event that once again crowned Natalia Baldizzone Morales from Fuengirola as champion of Spain, a title that she has already won 26 times in different training categories up to the senior elite. Natalia is experiencing an extraordinary moment of form, and she is still there, training with her sights set on the World Championship that will be held in Paraguay in the month of October.
