The Fuengirola City Council will modify the IBI ordinance to extend the 50% bonus to more large families
The proposal, initially approved unanimously, proposes increasing the number of benefited family units from the current 86 to 474
It has also given final approval to an agreement to install a public elevator that connects Carvajal Avenue with the Paseo Marítimo
07/22/2026. The Plenary Session of the Fuengirola City Council has today unanimously approved all political groups with representation in the institution the initial modification of the Fiscal Ordinance Regulating the Real Estate Tax (IBI) to extend the 50% bonus of this tax to more large families. The proposal originally signed today proposes increasing the number of benefited family units from the current 86 to 474 (451% more).
The Councilor for the Treasury, Rosa Ana Bravo, explained that this approach was already present in the 2026 Regulatory Plan. Currently, municipal tax regulations contemplate that all large families whose owner holds a single property, whose cadastral value divided by the number of children is less than 40,000 euros, will be able to benefit from a 50% bonus on the IBI. Now, with the proposed modification, the limit of said scale will be raised to 60,000 euros.
Likewise, the proposal that has initially seen the green light today, provides that in cases of families in which there is one child with a disability, it will be counted as two for the purposes of calculating the limit. In the same way, hereditary participations in other family properties will not be penalized.
“This change will allow more large families to access this tax benefit. Because this municipal government wants to help that sector of Fuengirola society to face the expenses of daily living,” said the councilor speaker.
In the same way, the plenary session has also given the approval, definitively and unanimously of all the political groups with representation in the institution, the innovation of elements of the General Urban Planning Plan by which a public elevator will be created that connects Carvajal Avenue with the Paseo Marítimo, at the height of the sector known as ‘Los Olimpos’.
This initiative is part of the Plenary Session of November 2024, the Government team put to a vote an urban planning agreement signed between the developer Costa Living SL and the City Council itself. In said agreement, the local administration allowed this entity to build a housing development on a plot on Subasta Street, and also to pay for and execute the installation of a public elevator on Carvajal Avenue with the aim of bridging the existing gap with the Paseo Marítimo in the area.
Today, and after giving it the green light in the April plenary session last year, the Councilor for Urban Planning, Rocío Arriaga, has presented the final proposal that has been supported by all the political forces that make up the highest representative body of the city.
In another vein, the assembled councilors have agreed to definitively approve a detailed study in the scope of action (AA-10) of the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU), as well as the TB-RF/5 plot of API-09.
