The mayor of Fuengirola and the Housing Minister deliver 24 new Municipal Support Housing in Carvajal

This action, aimed at young people under 35 years of age, is part of the Municipal Plan for Access to Housing and is co-financed by Next Generation European Funds

The mayor of Fuengirola, Ana Mula, and the Housing Minister of the Government of Andalusia, Rocío Díaz, have today delivered the 24 new Municipal Support Housing that the City Council has promoted on Begoña de Carvajal street. Starting next August 1, 24 young families under 35 in the town who have difficulties affording this property on the free market, will have a home on an affordable rental basis, responding to the growing housing need in the city and in the country as a whole. This is an intervention co-financed by Next Generation European Funds.

“Fuengirola is a united, committed town that complies with its tax obligations and that allows, therefore, that everyone’s money ends up destined for such laudable purposes as the fact that 24 families have a decent roof, at an affordable price and can develop their lives in our municipality. Live in peace. Being able to go out to work without the worry of not making ends meet and being able to start a vital family project,” said the councilor.

The City Council began the construction of these 24 apartments in November 2024. In the case of this promotion, it is intended for young people under 35 who have difficulties accessing this property on the free market and will operate under a temporary affordable rental regime.

The total cost of this municipal initiative amounts to 3,868,581.94 euros, of which 28.86% is financed by European Next Generation Funds. The execution period for these works has been 547 calendar days and the company Glesa has been in charge of the work.

The residential complex houses apartments with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a terrace, as well as twelve parking spaces located in the basement of the property. It has been erected on a municipal lot, located on Begoña Street, which has an area of ​​3,376.51 square meters.

Finally, Mula recalled that the City Council is working to promote more initiatives of this type in other municipal plots. In fact, the City Council has delivered, with the latter and so far this mandate, 65 apartments under an affordable temporary rental regime and is already processing the construction of another 65 in Torreblanca.

In this regard, he has indicated that Fuengirola residents who wish to apply for any Municipal Support Housing promotions provided by the Consistory must be, as a first requirement, registered in the Municipal Registry of Housing Applicants. A procedure that can be carried out in person in office 1 of the Mayor’s Office of El Boquetillo or at the municipal electronic headquarters.
