6/12/2026 – Fuengirola will become the epicenter of innovation and musical creation with the celebration of the II Spanish Sign Rhythm Meeting, an initiative that will bring together musicians and fans from different parts of Spain from June 15 to 17. This was recalled today by the Youth Councilor, Isaac Vargas, who announced that the closing concert of the event, initially scheduled for Plaza P
edro Cuevas, will finally be held in the Parque de España next Wednesday, June 17, starting at 9:00 p.m.
The performance, free of charge and open to all citizens, will feature the presence of Argentine musician Santiago Vázquez, creator of the Ritmo con Señas system and one of the main international references in the field of musical improvisation.
“For three days, Fuengirola will host a cultural and training proposal that will bring together musicians from different parts of the country in our city and will also have the presence of Santiago Vázquez, promoter of this artistic movement that has revolutionized the way of understanding collective musical creation,” said Vargas.
Sign Rhythm is a real-time musical composition and direction language based on gestures and visual signals. This system allows a group of performers to build improvised musical pieces using indications that regulate aspects such as pulse, dynamics, changes in structure or rhythmic bases, generating unique and unrepeatable compositions in each performance.
The meeting programming will combine training and practical activities. In this sense, the mayor explained that the workshops and work sessions will take place in the Youth Booth of the Fairgrounds, where participants will delve into the techniques and foundations of this musical language through different proposals directed by specialized professionals.
One of the highlights of the program will be the closing concert on the 17th, in which the public will be able to enjoy the result of the work carried out during the training and artistic exchange days. The performance will also feature the participation of the Barakatum batucada, who will be in charge of opening the show and will contribute to creating a festive and participatory atmosphere.
Isaac Vargas has also thanked the Drang collective for its collaboration in organizing this initiative, highlighting its involvement in making it possible to hold the meeting in Fuengirola and attracting musicians from different parts of the country.
With the organization of this event, the Fuengirola City Council reaffirms its commitment to a diverse, innovative cultural program open to new forms of artistic expression, while promoting spaces for coexistence, training and creative exchange aimed especially at young people and music lovers.
