The Fuengirola City Council continues to embellish the municipality’s underground containers with images of the city

This week, the City Council has started the vinyl covering of 100 underground container mailboxes distributed in 22 ecological islands on 16 streets of the municipality.

6/12/2026 – Fuengirola City Council continues to advance in actions aimed at improving the urban image and public environment through the beautification of the ecological islands of the municipality. The Councilor for Cleaning, Carmen Díaz, today reported the start of a new vinyl campaign that will allow one hundred underground container mailboxes to be decorated with representative images of the city.

“Fuengirola continues to improve the image and aesthetics of its waste collection points. This week we have begun the installation of 100 new vinyls with photographs of the city that transform the mailboxes of the ecological islands into another decorative element of the urban landscape,” explained the councilor.

Díaz highlighted that this initiative is part of a consolidated municipal commitment to integrate public services into the urban environment in a harmonious and attractive way. In this sense, he pointed out that Fuengirola was a pioneer in the implementation of this type of actions and continues to be one of the few municipalities that develops them in a generalized way on practically all of its ecological islands.

The action includes the placement of 100 vinyls on 22 ecological islands located on 16 streets in different neighborhoods of the city. The materials used are highly resistant and durable, allowing the quality of the images to be maintained despite continuous exposure to weather conditions and also facilitating cleaning using pressurized water systems.

The municipal Cleaning Manager has also highlighted the permanent maintenance carried out in these spaces. “The ecological islands have specific cleaning and washing plans whose frequency is adapted to their location and the volume of waste they receive, with the aim of always guaranteeing the best hygiene and conservation conditions,” he noted.

Likewise, given the imminent arrival of the high tourist season, Carmen Díaz has appealed to citizen collaboration to maintain the excellent image of the city. “In a few weeks Fuengirola will receive thousands of visitors who have chosen our municipality to enjoy their holidays. Therefore, it is important that we all continue to get involved in the care and cleaning of our environment. Maintaining a clean city is a shared task in which the collaboration of neighbors is essential,” he stated.

To conclude, the councilor stressed that cleaning continues to be one of the main priorities of the municipal government team. “Cleaning constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of the management of the Fuengirola City Council. In fact, the municipal contract for this service is the one with the largest financial endowment of those maintained by the Consistory, which allows us to continue incorporating improvements and constantly advance in the quality of cleaning and the image of our city,” he concluded.
