7/13/2026 – Fuengirola will host the ‘Olympic Legends’ exhibition to make visible the successes of world sport. This was announced today by Mayor Ana Mula, who together with the Councilor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, has announced that it can be visited at the City Museum from next Friday, July 17 to August 26. It is an initiative of the municipal program ‘Fuengirola Olímpica’.
“In Fuengirola we are committed to sport and to our athletes. With everyone. With those who practice it for pleasure and with our stars of the past and present. For more than a month, those who visit this exhibition will be able to contemplate an extraordinary collection of original pieces that are part of the history of sport, with special prominence of our Olympians from Fuengirola: the double champion Theresa Zabell, Juan Gómez ‘Juanito’ and María de Valdés,” explained the councilor
In this way, the exhibition includes replicas of all the Olympic torches since 1968, as well as other iconic objects from the history of this international competition. In fact, the Olympic flags are accompanied by clothing and souvenirs from national and international athletes who have been protagonists of their respective Games.
Thus, you can see a copy of the Olympic diploma that Mariano Haro achieved in Munich 1972, an original uniform of the Spanish Olympic Committee of the time, Juan Antonio Corbalán’s pants representing the remembered Olympic silver in basketball in Los Angeles 1984, the podium tracksuit of the captain of the hockey team Mercedes Coghen or the mythical mascot Cobi, icons of the unforgettable Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games.
In the same way, there will be space for the Olympic myths of this century, such as David Cal and his podium tracksuit commemorating his gold in Athens 2004, José Manuel Calderón as a representative of the two Olympic silver medals in basketball in Beijing ’08 and London ’12 through his boots, Lydia Valentín and her tracksuit from the Rio 2016 Games, her last contests, Alberto Fernández, with the gold pole in shooting in Tokyo ’20 or María Pérez and Álvaro Martín’s podium tracksuit, brilliant Olympic gold underway in Paris ’24.
To conclude, Mula has invited all Fuengirola residents and visitors to attend this initiative, with which the city intends to reinforce its commitment to sport. In this sense, the highest municipal leader has thanked the Sports Museum – the organizing entity of the exhibition – for choosing Fuengirola to present this exhibition.
“I am convinced that it will be a unique opportunity to get excited, learn and remember some of the most unforgettable moments in the history of Olympism,” she concluded.
