6/26/2026 – The Fuengirola Marina will be the scene this Saturday, June 27, starting at 8:00 p.m., of a spectacular bluefin tuna grunt open to the public. The initiative, organized by the Deep Sea Fishing Association with the collaboration of the Fuengirola City Council and several restaurant establishments, will allow residents and visitors to learn up close about this traditional artisanal butchering technique, in addition to enjoying a small tasting of this appreciated product.

The presentation of the event included the participation of the councilor responsible for the Marina, José Sánchez; the councilor for Foreign Projection, Julio Rodríguez, and the president of the Deep Sea Fishing Association, Plácido Antequera.

“It is the first tuna grunt held in the Fuengirola Marina and we face this initiative with great enthusiasm, both on the part of the Deep Sea Fishing Association and the collaborating restaurants, such as Flour, Salitre and Aviva,” highlighted Antequera, who thanked the City Council and the participating entities for the support provided to make this activity possible.

The president of the association explained that attendees will be able to discover live how the complete cutting of a bluefin tuna specimen is carried out, identifying and evaluating each of its pieces. “During the snoring we will extract some fillets that we will offer to taste, simply accompanied by salt and oil, so that the public can appreciate the extraordinary quality of the product,” he noted.

For his part, José Sánchez has invited all citizens to enjoy an event that combines tradition, gastronomy and spectacle. «The snoring of tuna is an experience worth witnessing. We will work on a specimen weighing approximately 120 kilos and attendees will be able to see live how specialists carry out the complete cutting, in addition to tasting a small appetizer,” he explained.

The program will continue on Sunday, also at 8:00 p.m., at the headquarters of the Deep Sea Fishing Association, located in the commercial area closest to the Paseo Marítimo, where different preparations will be cooked with the tuna cut up during the previous day.

In this sense, Sánchez has highlighted the dynamic role of the Marina. “We want to show that we have a port that, in addition to having magnificent facilities, has established itself as an authentic meeting point for residents and visitors, hosting nautical, sports, gastronomic, commercial and leisure activities that contribute to reinforcing the tourist and economic attractiveness of our city.”

Finally, Julio Rodríguez has highlighted the importance of this initiative for the promotion of Fuengirola. «It is a magnificent opportunity to project the image of our city, since tuna snoring is a tradition that is celebrated in very few places, mainly in the province of Cádiz. Being able to enjoy this show in Fuengirola with the help of renowned specialists, such as Jonathan Gutiérrez and Juanjo Carmona, with extensive experience in top-level restaurants, is a real privilege for residents and visitors.
