The Fuengirola City Council will renovate the David Meca pool
The environmental adaptation and renovation work on this equipment has been put out to tender for an amount of more than 620,000 euros and a completion period of 77 days. Companies have until June 29 to present their offers
6/18/2026 – Fuengirola City Council will renovate the David Meca pool. This was announced this morning, during a visit to the facilities, by the Councilors for Sports and Urban Planning, Julio Rodríguez and Rocío Arriaga, who have indicated that the contracting process has already begun to undertake the environmental adaptation of the aforementioned facilities located in the Elola Sports Complex. The works have been put out to tender for an amount of 621,260.60 euros and have a completion period of 77 days.
Municipal officials have explained that this action is part of an ambitious modernization project that will be carried out in three phases and will significantly improve the efficiency, comfort and environmental conditions of one of the most used sports facilities in the city.
In this sense, Julio Rodríguez has highlighted that “we continue to invest in the improvement of our sports infrastructure to offer users modern, efficient facilities adapted to current needs. The David Meca pool registers high activity throughout the year and this project will represent a significant advance in its operation and quality of service.”
For her part, Rocío Arriaga has pointed out that “this is a highly relevant technical action that will allow optimizing both the air conditioning system and the environmental quality of the venue, improving conditions for athletes, users and workers.”
The first phase of the project, currently in the bidding process, includes the environmental adaptation of the pool and the construction of a new machine room on the roof of the building. To do this, it will be necessary to carry out the dismantling of the current air distribution installation and the existing outdoor units, which will be replaced by new state-of-the-art equipment, designed to offer greater energy performance and better regulation of the environmental conditions of the premises.
Likewise, a new machine room will be built to house the dehumidification equipment that will serve the bathing area. This infrastructure will reduce the existing humidity levels in the interior environment of the pool, favoring the conservation of the facilities and increasing the comfort of users.
Another highlight of this action will be the incorporation of specific measures for the acoustic attenuation of the equipment, with the aim of minimizing the noise levels generated by its operation and thus guaranteeing greater environmental quality in the surroundings.
The global project also contemplates future actions related to the improvement of the heated water and domestic hot water (DHW) installations, thus completing a comprehensive renovation of the systems that serve the indoor pool.
Companies interested in participating in this contracting procedure may submit their offers until June 29 through the Public Sector Contracting Platform.
With this initiative, Fuengirola City Council reaffirms its commitment to the continuous improvement of municipal sports facilities, betting on the modernization of public facilities, energy efficiency and the provision of top quality services to citizens.
