6/18/2026 – Fuengirola once again becomes the epicenter of national basketball with the celebration, for the third consecutive year, of the Spanish Women’s Minibasket Championship, a top-level sporting event that will bring together the best promises of Spanish basketball from June 21 to 24. The Sports Councilor of the Fuengirola City Council, Julio Rodríguez, together with the vice president of the Andalusian Basketball Federation, Ricardo Bandrés, and the president of the Salliver Basketball Club, Fernando Revillas, reported today on the celebration of this championship, which will start this Sunday and will have the participation of 32 teams and around 350 players arriving from different parts of the country.

The matches will be held at the facilities of the Elola Sports Complex in Fuengirola and in the pavilions of Alhaurín de la Torre, thus consolidating an event that has already become a reference within the national sports calendar in training categories.
Rodríguez has highlighted that the celebration of this championship in the city is the result of the trust placed by the Spanish Basketball Federation, as well as the support of the Malaga Provincial Council and the Regional Government of Andalusia, together with the firm commitment of the Fuengirola City Council with the promotion of grassroots sports and the organization of major sporting events.
Likewise, the councilor wanted to thank the involvement of the Salliver Fuengirola Basketball Club, whose collaboration is essential for the organization and development of this important competition.
“This is an event that not only promotes women’s sports at younger ages, but also projects the image of Fuengirola as a welcoming, sporting city capable of hosting top-level competitions,” said the councilor.
With this new edition, Fuengirola reaffirms its commitment to grassroots sports, young talent and the celebration of events that contribute to the social and economic dynamism of the municipality.
