The Fuengirola City Council has removed more than 700 tons of furniture and belongings from public roads since the beginning of the year

To leave a piece of furniture on the street, you must notify us in advance at 900 101 889, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday, and they will tell you the time and specific location where to deposit it.

6/8/2026 – Fuengirola City Council has removed more than 700 tons of furniture and belongings from public roads so far this year. This was announced by the Councilor for Cleaning, Carmen Díaz, who reminded citizens of the importance of correctly using the free municipal bulky waste collection service to keep the city in perfect condition.

“The special summer operation of the Cleaning service began on June 1 and will last until the end of September. Therefore, we want to ask for the maximum collaboration of the residents to continue maintaining the excellent image of order and cleanliness that characterizes Fuengirola,” said the councilor.

In this sense, Díaz explained that the City Council makes available to citizens a free furniture and belongings collection service, which allows this type of waste to be removed in an organized manner that is respectful of the urban environment. Last year, more than 1,500 tons of furniture and belongings were removed through this system, while since the beginning of 2026, more than 700 tons have already been collected.

The municipal manager has insisted that, before depositing any furniture or belongings on public roads, it is mandatory to contact the service in advance by calling 900 101 889, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. “The operators will indicate to the citizen the place and time slot in which they must deposit the waste to guarantee effective collection and avoid inconvenience to the rest of the neighbors,” he explained.

Likewise, Carmen Díaz recalled that failure to comply with the Municipal Cleaning Ordinance can lead to financial penalties ranging between 301 and 1,500 euros. To ensure compliance with the regulations, the Local Police carries out surveillance work, including plainclothes checks in the vicinity of the ecological islands and other sensitive points in the municipality.

Finally, the councilor has once again appealed to citizen responsibility to preserve the image of the city. “We have a broad, free and accessible service for all residents. You only need to make one call to use it correctly. Fuengirola is a reference city for its cleanliness and together we must continue to take care of it,” he stated.

Díaz concluded by requesting maximum neighborhood collaboration so that Fuengirola continues to offer an impeccable image throughout the year. “We make the city together and the commitment of each citizen is essential to continue enjoying a clean, orderly and pleasant Fuengirola to live and visit.”
