The Fuengirola City Council collaborates in the dissemination of the Provincial Council’s campaign against bullying ‘Silence also hurts’

The Department of Education will take this action against bullying to all Primary and Secondary educational centers in the city

11/5/2026 – The Fuengirola City Council collaborates in the dissemination of the campaign against bullying at school ‘Silence also hurts’, promoted by the Provincial Council of Malaga. This was announced today by the Councilor for Education, Carmen Díaz, and the Councilor for Fuengirola and provincial deputy, Francisco José Martín.

“A few days ago the International Day against Bullying was celebrated and the Malaga Provincial Council has promoted the ‘Silence also hurts’ campaign, which is being spread in all educational centers in Fuengirola, both Primary and Secondary,” explained Díaz, pointing out that “it is a very interesting campaign to which numerous figures, both from sports and culture in Malaga, have also joined, and which goes to say that not only those who insult or attack do bullying, But he who remains silent is also an accomplice in this situation.”

In this sense, the councilor has highlighted that on the posters that are being installed in the city’s educational centers, in addition to the campaign slogan, the telephone number for victims of bullying also appears (900 018 018) “which any child or adolescent who feels harassed can call to ask for help.”

For his part, Francisco José Martín has highlighted that “bullying has always existed. But it is true that, previously, as there were no social networks, when classes ended that bullying stopped. However, currently bullying continues through mobile phones silently, because in many cases parents are not aware of it, but children continue to suffer its consequences.”

In this sense, Martín has pointed out that “it is important that the rest of the students, when they see that a classmate is suffering harassment, let the teachers know or make it known through the anti-bullying telephone number 900 018 018, a toll-free number that can be called anonymously and report that there is someone who is being a victim of harassment.”
