The Fuengirola City Council opens the deadline to request financial aid for the promotion of local sports
The municipal amount increases this year to 220,000 euros and includes aid for collective and individual sports, organization of events and elite sports. Local clubs and athletes will be able to submit their applications until May 29 through the municipal Electronic Headquarters.
5/15/2026 – The Fuengirola City Council has opened the deadline to request financial aid aimed at promoting sports in the city, after the regulatory bases were published yesterday in the Official Gazette of the Province. This was announced by the Councilor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, who highlighted that the municipal financial allocation for these subsidies has increased this year by 20,000 euros, reaching a total of 220,000 euros.
These grants are aimed at sports clubs, individual athletes, event organizers and elite athletes in the municipality. The application submission period will remain open from today, May 15, until May 29, and must be done through the City Council’s Electronic Headquarters.
“We have very good news to share with our clubs and local athletes, and that is that the municipal subsidies to support Fuengirola sports have already been published in the BOP. From today until May 29, they will have time to compile all the required documentation and present their applications,” said Rodríguez.
The councilor has also highlighted the growing interest that this call arouses among the local sports community. In this sense, he explained that the number of files processed has increased significantly in recent years. “In 2024, 63 files were processed and last year we reached 75, which demonstrates the great sporting activity that exists in our city and the municipal commitment to its promotion,” he indicated.
With the aim of facilitating access to this aid, the City Council has made all the necessary information available to interested parties and maintains an advisory service from the Department of Sports. “In addition to being able to carry out the processing electronically, from the Department we send an informative email to our database of clubs and athletes detailing the necessary documentation and reminding us of the application deadlines,” Rodríguez explained.
Specifically, in the email sent to both clubs and athletes, all the necessary documentation to process the aid is attached. In the case of sports clubs, the regulatory bases for subsidies are included; the list of documents that must be presented; the application model; authorization to carry out procedures with the Administration; the responsible declaration; the third party registration document for legal entities; the forms relating to team sports and individual sports; as well as the extract of the call published in the BOP of Malaga.
For their part, individual athletes receive the regulatory bases for aid; the list of required documentation; the application model; authorization to carry out procedures with the Administration; the responsible declaration; the third party registration document for natural persons; and the extract of the call published in the BOP of Malaga.
One of the most notable aspects of this call is the budget increase approved for this year. “This year we have increased the allocation for this aid by 20,000 euros, reaching 220,000 euros. This increase will be allocated mainly to the line of collective sports, which is the one that concentrates the greatest number of applications,” the councilor detailed.
Finally, Rodríguez has insisted on the importance of correctly presenting all the required documentation within the established deadline and has recalled that the Department of Sports remains available to applicants to resolve doubts and provide support during the process. “We want to help and guide all those who need advice to process their application. You just have to contact us or approach the Department and we will be happy to assist you,” he concluded.
