The Peace Palace will be the scene on Thursday, May 7, of the ‘Pedro Cuevas’ Awards Gala for Fuengirola sports
The event, organized by FTV and the Department of Sports, will recognize the most outstanding athletes, coaches, clubs and institutions of the season. The event will begin at 8:00 p.m. with free entry until capacity is reached.
4/30/2026 – The Peace Palace will host next Thursday, May 7, starting at 8:00 p.m., a new edition of the ‘Pedro Cuevas’ Awards Gala for Fuengirola sports. Organized by Fuengirola Television and the Sports Department of the Fuengirola City Council, this event will pay tribute to the athletes, coaches, clubs, entities and institutions that have stood out throughout the season, both for their competitive achievements and for the values they represent inside and outside the sports field.
The presentation of this event was carried out by the Councilor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, and the councilor responsible for Fuengirola Television, María Hernández.
María Hernández has highlighted the trajectory of a gala already consolidated in the local calendar. «The Pedro Cuevas Sports Gala recognizes every year the work, dedication and constant effort of our athletes. It is an event that we organize with great enthusiasm from the Department of Sports and Fuengirola Television and Radio, with the aim of highlighting all the athletes in our city, who give themselves to the maximum in their respective disciplines every day.
The councilor has also highlighted the breadth of the recognitions that are granted during the evening. “We reward grassroots athletes from our municipal schools, who are taking their first steps in competition, to established figures such as Natalia Baldizzone or María de Valdés, without forgetting clubs, companies and all the people and entities that contribute to the growth of sport in Fuengirola.”
For his part, Julio Rodríguez has highlighted the figure of Pedro Cuevas, whose legacy remains very present in the city. «The memory of Pedro Cuevas is indelible. The main purpose of this gala is to honor his memory, recognize everything he did for Fuengirola sports and keep alive the mark he left on generations of athletes.
During the ceremony, more than thirty awards will be presented, among which new distinctions such as the Legend Award stand out, which is added to traditional recognitions such as El Deporte Iguala, Best Sports School, Best Club, Best Sports Project, Best Coach, Best Leader, as well as awards to public and private entities that support and promote sports in the city.
Admission will be free until capacity is reached, so the organization invites all residents to attend and enjoy a night dedicated to talent, effort and passion for local sport.
