1/4/2026 -Fuengirola will host next Sunday, April 12, the fifteenth edition of Dog Day, an initiative consolidated in the local calendar that aims to promote responsible coexistence between citizens and their pets. The event will take place on the slope of Sohail Castle, an emblematic natural and cultural enclave of the city.
The councilors of Urban Ecology and Health, José Sánchez and Francisco Javier García Lara, have been in charge of presenting this new edition, highlighting the participatory, supportive and family nature of the day.
The programming will begin at 10:00 a.m. in Plaza de España, where participants will receive gifts for their pets. On this occasion, the gift will be a bottle intended to dilute urine, in line with current regulations in the city. Half an hour later, at 10:30 a.m., the traditional dog walk will begin, which will travel along the Paseo Marítimo to the Castle Park.
Once at the venue, attendees will be able to enjoy an extensive program of activities that will include dog shows, parades, raffles and sports circuits, as well as an exhibition area with the participation of associations, shelters and specialized establishments in the sector.
Among the featured proposals, several dog grooming salons will offer live demonstrations and services during the day, giving owners the opportunity to cut their pets’ hair at the event itself.
Likewise, the Animal Domus shelter will have an adoption space in which dogs from the municipal zoo-sanitary park will be presented, with the aim of facilitating their integration into new homes. This initiative seeks to raise awareness about responsible adoption and offer animals a second chance.
The event will also have a solidarity component, with a bar managed by the Harena Foundation in collaboration with the Los Mellizos restaurant, where a solidarity paella will be made. In addition, a shaded area will be enabled so that families can have lunch comfortably while enjoying the scheduled activities.
With this initiative, Fuengirola reaffirms its commitment to animal welfare and civic coexistence, consolidating its commitment as an animal-friendly city.
