The Fuengirola City Council renews the false ceilings of the changing rooms of the David Meca Municipal Swimming Pool
The action has a budget of 45,296 euros and an execution period of 40 days
30/3/2026 – Fuengirola City Council is renovating the false ceilings of the changing rooms at the David Meca Municipal Swimming Pool. This was announced this morning by the Councilors for Urban Planning and Sports, Rocío Arriaga and Julio Rodríguez, who have indicated that it is an action included in the Sports Infrastructure Improvement Plan.
In this sense, Arriaga explained that, although it is not a complex intervention, it is necessary due to the progressive deterioration of the materials over time. “The ceilings did not present any risk to users, but it was advisable to renew them to guarantee the optimal condition of the facilities,” he noted. The action has a budget of 45,296 euros and an execution period of 40 days, so it is scheduled to end in mid-April.
For his part, Julio Rodríguez has stressed that this intervention gives continuity to the roadmap set out within the Sports Infrastructure Improvement Plan, promoted by Mayor Ana Mula. In this context, the mayor recalled other recent actions such as the improvement of the stairs of the Elola complex or the renovation of the skylights in the sports halls.
In this sense, the councilor explained that these are tasks that are usually carried out by the Maintenance service, recalling that in August of last year work was already done on the false ceilings on the -2 floor. However, and following the recommendations of municipal technicians, a comprehensive renovation has been chosen that allows for all the guarantees of the installed materials.
The work is being carried out in stages to minimize inconvenience to users, ensuring that the changing rooms remain operational at all times. In addition, the new materials used are specially designed to withstand high humidity conditions, similar to those in saunas or spas, which guarantees greater durability and resistance.
