The Fuengirola City Council and the Government of Andalusia are working on the improvement and reorganization of the Bus Station

The mayor has held meetings with regional officials to advance the tender for a project that will reduce inconvenience to residents. The intervention in the area involves global action in the current environment that improves circulation and creates shaded spaces, as well as greater accessibility and safety for travelers.

3/19/2026 -Fuengirola City Council and the Junta de Andalucía are working on the improvement and reorganization of the city’s Bus Station to offer residents and users of this transport system an environment much more in line with the image of the town, as well as more accessible and safe. The mayor Ana Mula, together with the Councilor for Mobility, Isabel González, has recently held several meetings to advance the tender for a new project, by the regional entity, that provides a solution to this infrastructure, whose remodeling is a demand of the citizens of Fuengirola and the City Council itself.

“Having a bus station that responds to our current population level and our needs as a tourist municipality is essential and a priority. Its unbeatable location, next to the train station, but many changes must be made to make it a more efficient and better integrated infrastructure in the city. We strongly insist that the Board, which is competent in this matter, decide on an alternative as soon as possible, the best solution so that Fuengirola has the best communications and mobility possibilities possible,” explained the councilor.

In the different work meetings, local and regional officials made progress in the processing of the tender for the drafting of the project to adapt the current station with the aim of guaranteeing less inconvenience to the residents of the area and a service in better conditions for users.

In this sense, some of the characteristics sought by the new approach are the creation of shaded spaces, greater accessibility and safety for travelers and an environment more in line with the transformed image of Fuengirola.

In the same way, technicians from both administrations are also exploring the possibility of determining whether in the future there is suitable land for its transfer and, in this way, very substantially improving the current station.

The current stop is located on Alfonso

“Of course, as it is, it cannot continue any longer. The Board knows the urgency and the need to act on the presence of the delegate and her interest in Fuengirola having a bus station as befits a city of our level,” Ana Mula concluded.
