2/17/2026 – The Fuengirola City Council advances the ‘Sports Mountain’ project with the tender for the first phase, which will be the large recreation area of Los Pacos and the eastern area of the city. As a result of this action, 56 new parking spaces for vehicles will be made available to Fuengirola residents, as part of the Municipal Parking Plan.
“The ‘Sports Mountain’ is an ambitious project, both in investment and surface area. Today we are making important progress with the implementation of the first phase, which will mean, in turn, that we continue to take important steps in another inalienable commitment to the people of Fuengirola, such as the Municipal Parking Plan,” explained the mayor Ana Mula, who was in this green area today together with the mayor of Strategic Infrastructures, Rocío. Arriaga, and the councilor of the North neighborhood of Los Pacos, Julio Rodríguez.

In this way, this action went out to tender on January 23 and the deadline for submitting offers will end on February 18. The tender budget, which will be fully financed by municipal funds, amounts to 999,169.19 euros, while the initial execution period is 149 days.
The intervention consists of the remodeling of Flor de Loto Street (annexed to the park) and the creation of a parking area with capacity for 56 vehicles, so the parking spaces created to date will exceed 500 units so far this term.
In later phases, the approach is to create three areas or rings where different sports can be practiced and that have attractions such as a new interactive goal. There will also be multipurpose fields, a climbing wall, calisthenics equipment, children’s attractions and bio-healthy facilities.
Likewise, the designer has planned to expand the shade and rest spaces with vegetation and awnings, walking and recreation areas for families with small children, as well as picnic areas.
The renovation of the current Parque de la Cantera into ‘La Montaña del Deporte’ is an electoral commitment of Mayor Ana Mula. In 2022, the City Council called an ideas competition, to which eight proposals were submitted. Shortly after, the winner was announced, with a completely innovative design. After the drafting process of the project was put out to public tender. Now, this proposal to modernize public spaces is advancing with the implementation of its first phase.
