Fuengirola promotes the reform of the Fire Station to reinforce operational safety and modernize the service

The City Council has put out to tender this action, to which three companies have applied. The municipal investment is around one million euros and is part of the Municipal Security Plan presented by the mayor at the end of last year.

2/2/2026 – Fuengirola City Council has promoted the reform of the Fire Station to reinforce operational safety and modernize the service, valued at almost one million euros. Mayor Ana Mula today presented this strategic action that will allow the facilities to be updated, improve security and adapt the service to the latest technologies, who has highlighted the municipal commitment to the continuous improvement of public services and citizen security. This intervention is part of the Municipal Security Plan presented by the first mayor herself at the end of last year.

“Fuengirola is a safe, calm and orderly city, and it is because we have sufficient human and technical resources and full and permanent coordination between all the bodies that ensure security,” stated the councilor. In this sense, he highlighted that the City Council “does not accommodate” and works constantly to detect new needs and provide itself with the most appropriate means to improve prevention and effectiveness in the event of any emergency.

The mayor has highlighted the work of the Fuengirola Fire Department, which “has been a benchmark for years due to its high level of training, preparation and the incorporation of innovative means.” Furthermore, he recalled that the city currently has the largest fire department in its history, with 35 personnel, after the incorporation of seventeen new agents in the last five years.

“Today we take another step in that commitment with the implementation of the Fire Station reform project, a responsible investment that puts people at the center and reinforces an essential public service,” said Mula.

The project has a tender budget of 978,642.72 euros and an execution period of 240 calendar days. The tender began on December 1, 2025, with a period of 20 days for the presentation of offers, to which three companies have participated. If the expected deadlines are met, the award could take place throughout this month of February.

As a special condition of execution of the contract, the winning company must incorporate at least three unemployed people throughout the work: a first-class officer, a specialized laborer and an ordinary laborer.

Main improvements

The action includes a partial but strategic renovation of the building, over an approximate area of ​​1,400 square meters, aimed at modernizing the facilities, improving security and optimizing the operation of the Fire Prevention, Extinction and Rescue Service (SPEIS).

Among the main improvements, the reorganization of spaces stands out, clearly separating public areas from operational ones, which will allow more effective operation, especially in emergency situations. The new layout will facilitate direct visual control of the garage and maneuvers, reducing response times and improving internal coordination.

Likewise, key areas such as the control room will be modernized, which will have better technological means, and an emergency room or CECOPAL will be created to manage major incidents. The project also aims to improve the comfort of rest and work spaces, with healthier lighting, greater thermal and acoustic insulation and facilities adapted to current standards.

The renovation of the garage and the exterior patio will allow better organization of vehicles and materials, the creation of new storage spaces, natural ventilation systems and the installation of a forced gas extraction system for trucks. In addition, a new emergency vehicle exit door will be installed and the façade of the building will be updated, giving it a more modern and recognizable image.

The areas to be remodeled also include the training room, which will improve the training of SPEIS members and host training activities aimed at citizens.
