The Department of Sports promotes the III Fuengirola Christmas Race on December 21 to benefit AFA
It will depart from the Fairgrounds at 10:00 am and will be a great Christmas party with a gift raffle, a costume contest and Santa hats for the first 500 registrants. Registration is open at www.dorsalchip.es with prices of €3 for categories from pre-child to infant and €5 from cadets to veterans
12/4/2025 – The Sports Department of the Fuengirola City Council has presented the III Christmas Race, which will take place on December 21 starting at 10:00 a.m. departing from the Fairgrounds. The test once again has a solidarity nature, since the entire proceeds will go to the Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s Patients (AFA).
This was announced this morning by the Councilor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, and the president of AFA, Paqui Lebron, who highlighted that the day will be “an authentic Christmas party”, with a gift raffle, a costume contest and the delivery of a Santa Claus hat to the first 500 registered runners.
Registrations are now available on the web platform https://www.dorsalchip.es/carrera/2025/12/21/3_Carrera_de_Navidad_de_Fuengirola.aspxwith a price of 3 euros for the categories from pre-child to infant and 5 euros from cadets to veterans. The general race, aimed at categories from cadets onwards, will have a 3 kilometer route, while the children’s events will adapt their distance depending on the age of the participants.
Rodríguez has highlighted the social dimension of sport in the city and has highlighted that “in 2025 we have organized 13 solidarity sporting events, which have raised more than 50,000 euros for local associations such as AFA, Fuensocial, Mujeres Internacional, Mejor en Familia or AECC, among others. And we are going to close the year with our now traditional Christmas Race, an event that increasingly has more participation,” he added.
The councilor explained that this edition will have a new route: “We will start from the Fairgrounds towards Los Boliches along Jesús Cautivo Avenue, until the intersection with Santa Gema Street, where the turn will be made towards the Fairgrounds, where the finish line will be.”
In addition, he has encouraged participants to come in costume: “Although the competitive classification is maintained for the first three in each category, there will also be prizes for the best costumes in children’s, youth, adults and group modalities.”
Rodríguez has thanked the collaboration of Carrefour, Carnicería Romero, Motomercado – which will donate the Christmas hats -, Sould Park – which will donate four 10-credit cards for the raffle and one of 50 euros for the winner of the children’s contest – as well as numerous local businesses and restaurants that will provide gifts for the raffle. It has also invited new establishments to join “through the official Facebook and Instagram channels of the Department or directly through AFA.”
For her part, the president of AFA, Paqui Lebron, thanked “the constant commitment of the City Council and the Department of Sports”, highlighting that “in Fuengirola, sport, culture and other areas always go hand in hand with solidarity”.
Lebron explained that this year’s proceeds will be used to launch the association’s new therapeutic garden, as well as to pay for the adaptation works of the new premises on Miguel Bueno Street, where an external workshop is being held. “It is an important effort, but essential for our users to receive non-pharmacological therapies that help slow the progression of the disease, in addition to offering respite to their families,” he noted.
